I recently bought a 7-passenger 2014 Rogue SV, and since it doesn't include a spare tire, I'm looking into the possibility of buying one separately (hopefully it still fits under the third row when I remove the foam insert). It's about a 2-hour drive to the nearest junkyard that has a Rogue with a spare tire, so I'd prefer to buy one from a local junkyard if the size fits. I've searched this forum (and the rest of the internet) extensively but can't find the spare tire specs anywhere.

Anyone with a 5-passenger able to tell me the size as listed on the sidewall of your spare tire?

Thanks!

The Nissan manual lists the spare tire as being either T155/90D17 or T145/90D16. Not sure if it'll fit in your car since the third row seat takes up so much real estate.

Thanks, not sure how I missed that when looking through my manual.

I'm assuming the T145/90D16 is for the S/SV and the T155/90D17 is for the SL. Either way, the spare shouldn't be wider than 5.5"…if my measurements are correct, it will fit (fingers crossed).

For future reference: yes, a spare tire does fit under the third row seat.

Either a junkyard or ebay

And of course don't forget to pickup a jack and a combo lug/jack wrench. Just a spare tire without a way to change it won't do you much good.

I would get a breaker bar and socket to supplement the combo lug/jack wrench. The breaker bar will give you more leverage when you have to break the nuts loose on the side of the road.

I'm guessing the full size tire/wheel doesn't fit. How expensive is the "special" 5" wide steel wheel that goes with the T155/T145 tire? Not to mention the tire itself. I can easily see the "temporary" parts being twice that of the everyday use ones, but I'm sure it all depends on where you buy them from. The junkyard is a good place to start.

Ok spare tire seems to fit under 3rd row seat related to this post. But, once you get a flat, does it fit on the Wheel socket?
I just talked to the parts department of a Nissan dealership. He sais the 7 passengers has bigger brake galipers than the other Rogues. He think the regular rogue spare tire (he thinks its the same spare for S, SV and SL) may not fit over those bigger galipers of a 7 passengers.

Questions:
1.did anyone tried to put a spare tire on those big galipers? (Front wheel vs rear whelle my be different galiper size, make sure it fits on all 4 wheels.

2.if the regular spare rogue 155 90 d16 and 155 90 d17 doesn't fit on the 7 pass engers galipers, does anyone knows which old nissan model and year, in a junkyard, would fit on those galipers? (Maybe an old infiniti or a bigger nissan like armada or quest has a bigger spare that fits rogue 7 pass galipers)

3. If you find that junkyard spare tire that fits, does it fit under the 3rd row seat storage?

1. In retrospect this is pretty dumb, but no, I haven't tried mounting the spare tire yet. I'll have to give it a go once the weather improves. This is the first I've heard about larger calipers on the 7-passenger model.

2. FYI the spare tire you're looking for would be T155/90D17 101M (for SV/SL trim). I got the 17" rim from a Nissan sedan in a junkyard (they ran a search for compatible spare tires), then bought the tire from a dealer and had it mounted on the rim. As I said in (1), I haven't confirmed whether it's compatible with both front and rear calipers.

3. Yes, it fits under the 3rd row storage.

may I ask for pictures of the spare tire that you bought and place under the 3rd row? I am thinking of ditching my run flats when they are worn out and just go with regular tire. I would need a spare tire for that configuration. thanks

I have a 2016 Rogue SV with the 3rd row seating and 17"tires. I purchased a 17x4 spare tire from a salvage yard for $65.00 and it fit perfectly in the recessed area below the 3rd seat. It is secured with the same bolt as the styrofoam and there is still room for jumper cables, rags, gloves, etc. It seems silly to not have a spare. Now I need to get a jack and tools kit. I hope this helps everyone that feels like I do.

I'm in a similar situation so thanks to everyone providing info on this topic. Did anyone ever actually try mounting a spare tire on the 3rd row model with the larger brake calipers to see if it fits? Want to make sure I can actually use the spare if I spend the money to get one.

I’m the one that posted in 2018 that the front caliper are bigger on the 7 passengers. I heard it from a mechanic at Nissan dealerships over the phone. I haven’t change my front brakes yet so I don’t know in reality.

Well, well well, I randomly stopped in a junkyard on my way to groceries this week. I was lucky that they were unloading a scrapped Rogue from a van freshly arrived. They are rare since it’s still the same current model in 2020. They would usually get rebuilt and we couldn't get used parts. Anyway, they sold me the spare tire D17 and the jack for $100. I jacked my Rogue in the parking lot and I tried it right away on my front wheel. It does perfectly fit and the caliper doesn't seems to touch the inside of the spare rim.

Than I found out that it does't perfectly fit under the 3rd row seat! So, why no spare tire are sold with the brand new 7 passengers between 2014 and 2017?!? I now think Nissan didn’t put a spare tire and a jack to get maybe $100 more profit on their brand new 7 passenger Rogue! That’s it!

I hope this posting will help.

*Caliper

When the third row seating was introduced on the Rogue, they found that the extra seat eats up part of the space required to store the spare tire. That's why a spare wasn't included. As compensation the vehicle comes equipped with the more expensive run flat tires. So any alleged money savings is a wash.

Anyway this was discussed when the 3rd row seating was introduced. :poke:

I have a 2016 Rogue S. According to what I have found online, it still has 17" tires. But, Can anyone help me confirm the spare tire size before i do something stupid? Is it the same as above?

The spare tire is for a 2nd gen Rogue, which is what you own, so it will fit your vehicle.

@sroussin Just want to double check. Did you mean it does fit perfectly under the 3rd row seat? Or It doesn't? If it doesn't, that means we just can't have a spare tire, right?
