Just bought this car and didn't realize it doesn't come with a spare tire or rim. Does anyone know the specs for a spare tire for the 2009 G37S convertible? Apparently it costs over $600. Has anyone bought this for cheaper? Any information is appreciated.

Btw.... how can they not include a spare tire in a $50K car?

I think only in Maryland is it the law to have a spare. The Verts dont have a spare to save space in the rear. You can use that area as a trunk space almost. Plus you should have infiniti road side assistance. It saves money by not having a spare also. The sports rims are going to require an 18" rim minimum to clear the calipers which will be huge in the trunk

I bought the available spare and tools ("kit") from the dealer. Money well spent for piece of mind on remote driving roads.

Does the spare and tools kit that the manufacturer sales come with a rim?

(Please tell me what's included in the kit?)

The best place to get info about the spare tire kit is to contact your dealer, as no one that I has been able to get one. :gotme

See my previous post. I bought the spare tire "kit." All the stuff you used to get thirty years ago. Mounted tire and tools to put it on.

I got mine a week or two after I bought the car a year and a half ago. No problems.

Yes, it's easier to order the spare kit at the time of buying the car.
It's not easily available if you try to get the spare post buying the car, dealers want lot more than $250 and no one has in stock for strange reasons.

I forgot to mention that the later model Porsche Boxsters don't have spares. Worse than that is that there is no spare available at all. Some have tried to jury rig something, but there is no OEM available. Some Boxsters cost $60,000 or so. There are other cars which also don't have spares, such as Ferraris. But I'm positive about Boxsters since I used to have an early one which did have a space saver spare.

The spare in the kit looks the same as the spare in the G37s coupe. Probably look around ebay or such for one a bit cheaper.

Anyone know the part number of the spare tire "kit?" I wonder if they might be available from salvage shops at a substantial discount.

I actually havent started it yet. It doesnt cost much and I already have most of the components. You dont need a powerful computer to make it run. IN fact you can make it run on a netbook if wanted to.

Phil, unfortunately it does not look like Sled has logged in since May 2011.
