yes you will definitely have to get it programed. did you lose one of your ikeys? did you check the dealership to see how much they are charging?

$43.95 onhttp://www.carandtruckremotes.com/br1198.html

$49.00 on this sitehttp://www.keylessride.com/ord...49A49doesn't seem like it's much of a discount though

on eBay for $26 shippedhttp://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...wItem

Just a thought, but I'm wondering if these keys were the ones affected by the recall. Shouldn't be a problem though if all you need is a spare and you don't keep your phone next to your ikey.

I got my altima in august 2007, and never got a iKey recall, you think my iKey would be the ones that are effected by being too close to the phone?

Not sure - if you didn't receive one of those Nissan recall post-cards, you should be ok. I bought my car in May 07 and got the post-card.... never swapped my keys though b/c I never had any problems.

To check for it, take out the physical hard key from the Ikey and you will see some writing in a goldish color - at the bottom there is a weird barcode looking thing - to the right of that there should be 2 small circles, one within the other - if that isn't there, you have old keys.

At my dealership, we only charge about $35 for the factory original I-key remote. And yes, it does have to be programmed by the dealer.
