I'm guessing its a front tire, which would also mean it was not one of the tires you just purchased. Maybe where you got the two rears will cut you a rate. A pothole that big represents a bigger issue though - you need to check your wheel for damage.
I know (sort of) how you feel. I had to get one of my Bridgestone 960's patched last week after I picked up some scrap metal from a construction site in my neighbourhood. It will get replaced for reliability reasons as soon as I rotate my summer tires back on. At least I could get a temp fix for mine, there's no fixing a damaged sidewall though.
