This may be a dumb question.... I have a few scratches/curb rash on my front wheel and have looked at the full spare I have and it is brand new with no scratches at all. When I purchase new tires in a few month does anybody see a problem with switching my scratched wheel with the spare?

Hello,In theory, no worries. However, the tire may well be four to five years old. In the name of safety, I would use the wheel, but, replace the tire. Five years is way too long for a tire, even unused. The rim, however, is identical.Cheers,M.L

Definitely, definitely true!! Tire rubber hardens with time ... never use a tire that is five+ years old. Replace it, even if it seems to have plenty of tread left.

Otherwise, you could have a crack that expands and blows out the tire unexpectedly (no slow leak!) ... at speed, it could be fatal.

Safety first, folks!
