I purchased an old set of AVS AS-5 wheels for my 1990 2+2 NA.

Fronts are 17 x 7.5 offset is 40

Rears are 17 x 8 offset is 32

From what I can tell by the fitment guide the normal offset for a NA car is 45 all around, and 45 front 35 rear for the TT.

My question is will I need to use spacers with these wheels? If so, what size?

Thanks,

Dave

Sell those wheels and get ones that fit. 18x9.5+35 all around if you're lazy.

Not the answer I am looking for, these are the same wheels that Steve Millen used on the 25th anniversary 300zx.

Simmode1 just meant that they are awfully skinny wheel sizes. Those are pretty conservative offsets though so without spacers they'll probably look sunken in. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but with 7.5" wheels up front you'll probably want a spacer that'll get you to at least a 20 offset without having to worry about rubbing. Not entirely sure about 8" 32 offset in the rear but I want to say it's close to stock on an NA so you'll want either a little lower offset or spacer there too.

They are not really that skinny, the original size on the NA cars was 16 x 7.5 all around. I believe the TT were 16 x 7.5 Fronts abd 16 x 8.5 Rears.

ok about wheel offset...

if you have clsoe to the same width wheel as oem wheels, and you have the same offset as oem wheels, the fitment of the wheels will be roughly the same distance inside the wheel well as oem. Higher offset wheels sit further into the wheel well. Lower offset wheels fit more outside the wheel well.

so say you have a +40 offset wheel and a 10mm spacer. if you fit both wheel and spacer on the car, the wheels will fit like a +30 offset wheel. if you bought a -10mm offset wheel and a 30mm spacer, your wheels would fit like a +20mm offset wheel.

To get close to flush on a z32, you need +35 offset at least. To get really flush u need a +10 to +25 offset wheel.

Same wheels the SMZ had yes, same sizing hardly. Honestly unless your getting them for a great price there is better wheels to be had in much better sizes and offsets. If you are stuck on these wheels they will require a big spacer to look half way decent on the car unless you like how the stock wheels fit.

^ 20mm spacer at best.

Why go for a near stock fitment when, (for the money,) you can get wider/lighter wheels in a lower offset and a fender roll?

I'm thinking that would be monster truck status. :rotfl

Spacers add negative offset.

+40 + -10 = +30

but

-10 + -30 = -40 :dblthumb:

OOPS. :O i just realized that mistake.

your offset goes down when adding spacers. I should've just said that.

to test formula:

+40mm offset + 40mm spacer = 0 offset.
+40mm offset + 60mm spacer = -20 offset
-10mm offset + 30mm spacer = -40 offset.

Ok im good now. :D thanks for noticing that mistake.
