Hello All!

I couldn't get an answer from another forum and finally got a chance to post on this forum. I finally bought 06 M45 sport wheels from what I understand, spacers are required.

Here is what I have found out.

"The 2006 Q45 Sport wheel has an offset of +40mm while 2006/07 M35/M45 has an offset of +50mm. "

I would assume I would then only need 10mm spacers, but some have posted to use 20/25mm. Anyone know more info on best fitment?

I forget the width of the M45 Sport wheel, but if it is 8.5", then I think you need at least 15mm spacers if you want to avoid contact with the suspension components. Going to 20 or 25mm spacer will make them more "flush", but may well put the tire under the fender. This may be okay depending on the tire aspect ratio and tire cross-section design, but if you have a lowered car, it might cause the tire to rub (please don't roll the edge of your beautiful car fender!). That is dangerous.

So, in your shoes, I'd try 15 or 20mm. You might also consider going to a friendly tire dealer local to you and trying different spacers to get a good fitment.

Finally, in a 19" size, please make sure that the tires you use have the correct load index for the heavy Q45 (at least 95 or higher - preferably close to 98 or 101). These are not always available (a more "standard" 245/45-18 size has many more brands/models of tires available ... lower price as a result).

BTW, I know you want to proceed with this anyway, but personally (YMMV), I have never liked the idea of spacers - they add intertia and rotating weight to all four wheels and impact performance. And, if they are not hub-centric, balancing will be difficult ... leading to vibration.

Thank you much!!

You pretty much answered everything and provided alot more great info.

I am going to get the spacers that are hubcentric as well. I've decided on using 15mm.
Thanks again.

I put those rims on my 97' and custom ordered a set of 22mm spacers. Make sure that you get a good set, if you spend less then 250 bucks your getting crap. I had to drop 300 bucks, these bolt directly onto the hubs using your old lug nuts and make you buy a completely new set of nuts. Look around and find someone that will make them to your specs, I found a guy in LA that made them, got the guys contact from a former member who got banned a few years ago, so cannot remember the place.

And the advise on extra load rating is good advise, I had only 94 load rating on my first set of Bridgestone 050 Pole Positions that blew out on a big expansion joint at only 50% tread wear. I replaced them with 245/40 19 XL 98 Michelin Pilot Sports. Both great tires but the Michelins are more sticky.

Post some pictures of the new 19" wheels. Spacers can be hit or miss...the inability to get an alignment without vibration and reduced bolt length kind've sucks. Just ensure you get a high quality spacer for your Q45.

This is a great site, good post! I will bookmark this one.

So seldomseen is very correct, you need to ensure you're buying high quality spacer or you'll have issues with bearings, aligments, etc. If you are only spending $100-120 they are junk. eBay has lots of junk posted, don't bite on those. Find someone that can make you very good ones that bolt to the hubs directly and give you completely new posts. Then also make sure whoever is working on your car is VERY careful, cause if you strip out one of those posts they cannot be replaced like they can on the car itself.
