Did you buy them yet? If it's possible to buy it with the correct offset, that would be better than using spacers. Your call, price, availability, and other things could make your setup a better choice.
+40 seems a little on the high side. I think my rears are 8.5s with a +32 and I could still use another 10-15mm to be flush.

10 to be safe, you don't want to end up having to roll your fenders. the offsets on the wheels are +40mm plus the 10mm spacer and the offset is now a +30mm. if you add a 15mm spacer the offset becomes a +25mm. the lower the +offset the further it is pushed outward. when I had the 18" coupe wheels on my sedan, they were 18x8 with a 30mm offset. They were flush with the fenders and looked good.

hi, i am looking to get spacers (10 or 15mm) for my coupe as well (i want them as flush as possible)...what would you recommend with these wheels?18" x 8.5" +2818" x 9.5" +26i'm not 100% sure of the offset (need to check my original invoice when i bought my wheels 2 years ago)...this was what the guy who ordered my wheels said the work rep recommended for my coupe but i noticed that my brembo calipers have some chips on them maybe due to clearance issues...thanks for any info...
