I was wondering if anyone knew how to get rid of the sour smell in my AC system. I can run the ac for about 30 -60 minutes than the sour smell will kick in. it smells really strong and it will hold that smell for a long while. try to air it out with the window down but doesn't help or work. What can i do? i already got my carpets shampooed. i tried smelling my carpets and it's not coming from there. It looks as if the previous owner dump milk into the a/c vents

:help :help :help :help j

thanks in advanceguam

I had an odor in my q45 and I got rid of it by taking to a detail shop and they ran an ozone generator in it overnight. This effectively kills any smells such as smoke, mold and mildew or what ever else may have been deposited in the vehicle!

I am not sure whether it will cure the air con smell but it may. I would check with the detailer to see if they have solved this type of problem before. It cost me $60 and was worth every cent

i think BG makes a product that is somehow added to the AC to freshin' things up. check out infinitipartsusa.com, i think they carry it.

sounds like bacteria in the evaporator housing. spraying and cleanning will only mask the issue. is the drain open ? evaporators can get very dirty and then comes the smell. you may need to remove the evaporator to clean the housing and core.

The BG Product is called Frigifresh... I'd try that first (after you make sure the drain line is open)
