Hello,

I was wondering if any of the guys from the US has a source for getting hydraulic lifters. I have heard on various forums that you guy's can get them for around $10-$20 where as the price here in Australia is $138 each.

I have 3 heads in the heads and there are two styles of lifter each with their own style of shim and i don't have enough good ones to make up a full set of either and as everything else in the engine is new i might as well bite the bullet and get a full set of new ones, but not for $130 a piece.

Also i assume that since the solid lifters for the VG30's and CA's are the same that the hydro lifters are also the same. Is this correct?

EDIT!! They are the same as they have the same part number (13231-79S00).

If anyone can help me out that would be great.

I thought they were more like $60 each, but it's been a while since I check on them. I have a place that can rebuild them for a pretty fair price. Are we talking about the same thing though? You talked about 2 different styles and shims, so you've got me confused. There is only 1 kind of lifter for the DOHC CA that I know of.

I found a place in NJ? (New Jersey i assume) that sells them for $17.97 each.

They are the same style (i should have worded it better) but there are differences, there is an old type and a new type and the body is slightly different between the two and the shims are different.
I'll pull them apart and and take some pictures of the differences at some stage.

I was rebuilding them when i realised that i couldn't make a full set, the problems with them are that there is scoring on the top surface due to them not rotating in the head correctly so they are bin items.

there are 3 different internal variations for the hydraulic lifter in the ca18. sxoc has it well documented somewhere.

Well their name is "Allstate Engine and Parts Supply" in NJ. Although i paid over a month ago (13th August) and they still haven't been sent when i rang them Monday. They still haven't got the stock in, and when I rang them 3 weeks ago they assured me that they would be sent within 2 days.
I don't blame them but I'm a bit pissed off as they originally said it would be within 2 weeks. I was going to have my engine together this week as I have holidays, now it will have to wait another 8 weeks before I get another chance.
