Uh... I just came home from the sound systems place... They said that the door speakers, 2 12's, amp, box and labor will cost 2319 total... Help. Good or bad?

Sounds like alot to me. But it all depends on what type of brands for all your equipment.

Sounds about right if it includes installation, seperates and multiple amps of good quality.

Well, looking at retail:

Headunit: $200Front components: $350Rear speakers?: $50Subs: $200 ($100 each-ish)front amp: $150 (75x2)sub amp: $300 (monoblock)fuses/interlinks/RCAs: $300Installation: $500 (?)

Comes out around $2,050 - ish for the above. Higher output seperates amp would run up to $400 (the $150 I have listed is for a RF Punch 200.2 which I just bought for 150. Their 550.2 is just under $400). Sub amp could be higher as could just about anything else dependant on quality.

Bit overkill, but I did the same at your age

Personally, I don't call the 200.4 RF amps "old school". To me, the Punch 45/75/150 (pre-HD) are "old school". I'd love to find a old PA1 pre-amp one day to replace my PPI PAR-225.

FWIW, my "old school" a/d/s PH15 just croaked (circa 1990) and I'm still running my JL 12w6 (V1) that I have used since 1993. I think the PAR-225 is from the early 90's as well. My equipment from the early to late 80's are all gone tho.

swiss audio - - -front components = $75rear coaxials = $40mids/highs amp (50x4) = $90sub amp (500x1) = $1302 one farad caps = $150

2 soundstream picasso 12's = $150

You can do ebay or buy used to save a hell of a lot of cash. BUT, the OP stated "sound system place" and you always expect a premium.
