R30 came out in like 1980, right?

An '80 R30 would be 100% legal in the US now, as it's more than 25 years old.

People with R32's still have to wait another ten years. weaksauce.

I'll take a PGC10, kthxbye.

It's a complicated issue, really.

SOME R32's are legal, i.e. all the cars brought over by Motorex. They didn't properly legalize them, but DOT has allowed the already-legalized ones to be grandfathered in.

Now, ONLY R32's that went through Motorex are 50-state legal. If anyone else brought one in and managed to get it registered in some state somewhere, it's still not a federally legal car, even if they have legit plates. DOT could still seize and crush the car.

Honestly though, in some states, especially Florida, you can drive it all day and no one will care.

Indiana is much the same. Takara can get you an R30 or R31. They have them on the auction site. NICE!!!! R31's are the sex!!

...and I think it has to be really early (can't remember the exact date cause I don't live there anymore!) for it to be exempt from emissions ("smog") testing. Trying to pass an older carb'd car has given many an enthusiast headaches in California.

I think the R30s were fuel injected though, yes?

Hey, it does have alittle pignose! I think they were in the beginnings of fuel injection, I know I've seen a BMI video with a R31 that was carb'd. The engine sound was incrediable! Sorry that one was a R30. Here's a R31!! \/ \/
