Sounds like car is out of gas

I have had a problem with running rich. I also just replaced the stock air box with a cone filter. It sounds different. It sounds just like it was running out of gas when it had the stock air box. It runs perfectly fine. Any suggestions?

What do you mean by "sounds like car is out of gas?"
Cars usually don't make much noise when they're run out of fuel.

Is it running now? What is the current setup- cone or stock air box? Its hard to tell based on what you've written. Is it running better or worse?
How do you know you're running rich? Do you have a wideband 02 sensor? Did you base it off fuel economy or another observation? Have you checked out your current 02 sensor?

I would think running out of gas means stumbling somewhat, then picking back up... misfiring, then idling back up, etc.

Sounds like you should check for vacuum leaks or something with the MAF.
