i recently installed a new sound system in my car

two 10" pioneer premier championship series pro, heres all the specs.

im also running on a 760 watt pioneer amp.

http://www.pioneerelectronics....5300T

my concern is because i noticed all my lights dimming out and what not. i did look up alot of stuff but still confusion.

i also even got a 3 farad power acoustik capacitor installed and still have the same dimming.

i plan on buying a yellow top optima battery anyway because my battery is extremly old and would be very useful for alot of electronics.

i just want to have this kick *** sound system and not have to worry about any alternator problems.

suggestions?

what?^ i had a system for 4 years and never "blew" any alternators. i would suggest a better battery and definatly run some better grounds and possibly higher gauge wiring. if i was to take the previous posters advice, i guess we would all be rocking stock.

You shouldn't be getting any dimming if you have a capacitor on the system. Post up some pics of your install and maybe we can troubleshoot it for you. Running a sound system in the car will cause increased load on your alternator and battery, but if it is wired correctly and everything is in good condition there shouldn't be any problems. It could also be your battery cables. Check them for deterioration. Look for any cracking or swelling in the cable as well as broken insulation. Sometimes the grounds in older cars can start to fray. Optima battery got bought out a couple of years ago and they aren't nearly as good as they once were. I've running a diehard platinum from sears. great warranty and good price. I can leave the system in my other car on for like an hour and it still starts right up! Just get a big one and you'll do fine. The odyssey battery's are also supposed to be very good. just my .02 good luck

I am going to get my system all put in when it gets warmer. You can also help defeat this problem by getting a bigger alternator. the Nissan Quest alt is 110Amp verses the 240's, what, 80 Amp I think?

but when my buddy installed the cap, we forgot to sand down the paint on the chasis to bare metal where we grounded it too . im not sure if itll make a difference but im going to do it anyway.

3 Farad lol, what a scam. A real 3 farad cap would be larger then the car. I hate decisive marketing.

But good ground help, the type of battery is important, the cap helps, if you need a bigger alternator the Maxima ones work from what I have heard

i would also say you might need bigger gauge of wire. what size is it now? and maybe just maybe your altanator might already have been shot before hand, get it checked.

caps are waste in my opinion as they just add an extra load on the alternator, you would probably be better off doing "the big 3" and upgrading the alternator as suggested.
