Dear friends,

This problem drives me crazy!

Mine is 97 pathfinder, I installed an aftermarket cd player with no wiring problem. The sound is beautiful without starting the engine. But once you started engine, there is a loud electric current noise coming out, " zzzz........". The kind of sound changes along with rpm changing. When the rpm turns high, the sound turns high. The volume keeps same whatever you turn the knob.I bypassed the amp, the problem was solved, but the sound quality got affected as well.

Could anyone please figure out what the key is?

thanks

if it's a Pioneer head unit, there's a good chance you need to ground out one of the rca wires.

i had that problem when i first installed my system, a buddy told me about this trick and i didnt believe it at first, but it worked like a charm.

i installed another headunit while my system was still hooked up and didnt get any feedback noise, so that confirmed it was the Pioneer's fault. the grounding trick may apply to other cd players but im not sure.

What amp did you bypass? If it was the factory amp which you bypassed then you kind of answered the question yourself. The factory amp was most likely faulty.

Now had it been an aftermarket amp then like the other guy posted then i'd have to ask if it was a pioneer head unit. At work we get a lot of DIYers that almost always get noise like that when doing 4 channel and a pioneer head unit. Reason it seems to me is because they turn their units on with the rcas exposed and when they touch they blow something out on the inside *i'm drawing a blank on what it's technical term was * But from there you get a lot of noise with an amplified system to the highs, but i haven't seen it as an issue with mono amps. If i recall right *it's been a while though* You can just ground the shielding on the rcas or something along those lines.

Make sure your RCA;s are away from your puwer wire or any power wires

Ground on some nissans is not in the harness. Run the deck ground directly to chassis ground. Or...use the factory amp and an interface like a Peripheral Electronics SVEN4.
