Dear friends,This problem drives me crazy!

Mine is 97 pathfinder, I installed an aftermarket cd player with no wiring problem. The sound is beautiful without starting the engine. But once you started engine, there is a loud electric current noise coming out, " zzzz........". The kind of sound changes along with rpm changing. When the rpm turns high, the sound turns high. The volume keeps same whatever you turn the knob.I bypassed the amp, the problem was solved, but the sound quality got affected as well.

Could anyone please figure out what the key is?

thanks

you must have an issue with ground, make sure you have grounds to chassis ground and that none of your speakers - wires are connected to it

Affirmative. It's alternator whine.

Make sure your ground is bolted to bare metal. Sand the contact area down until you see a nice shiney appearance. Also, keep the ground wire as short as possible.

Some people suggest running the power for the amp down the opposite side from the cables carrying the audio signal. I've never had to do this with a proper ground however.

If you still have the problem try a different ground location.

i think he meant the issue is just with the head unit itself, so there must be an issue with the wiring harness. my harness doesnt need a bolt theres a wire direct to chassis ground. Its very easy to confuse the ground wire for a speaker - wire so check that everything is right.

thanks friends,

I think it is alternator whine, I will check the headunit ground.

By the way, are there any else ground wires I have to check? Like engine ground, battery ground, or else?

yeah mines a JVC too, if its a newer one the ground wire should be integrated to the harness, go to http://www.installdr.com/Harne...g.pdf and look at the pinouts for 1995 and newer, make sure your wiring harness matches these and if the wires are spliced there are solid connections. I doubt your engine isnt grounded properly or else youd have much worse problems, its gotta be the head unit only.

good luck keep us posted

hi,

I checked the wiring again, everthing is right. The problem could be, engine or alternator ground. But, I don't have idea about checking that. Could you please show me where are those cables located?

thanks.

If you've got RCA's on the back of the headunit wrap some wire (any wire will work) around the connectors and ground them. There's a good chance that by additionally grounding the deck your issue will dissolve.

Hey Fueler did you notice a drop in quality with your ground-loop isolator?

There is a separate shield wire that you need to connect to ground.
