Suggest a complete sound system setup that I can buy and install for 400 bucks or less. I'm a total sound system noob.

Dude, I just spent about 10 minutes typing up some info for you and I somehow managed to delete it all

For subs and amps and 6x9? Start working at Circuit city or best buy or find friends who do. I'm telling you man, my buddy showed me the list and the prices he paid made me want to cry, they were dirt cheap, kicker, infinity, polk, all the stuff they had...cheap for them.

So those kits that Best Buy offers aren't that bad then?

What're the brands? I'll go look too.

EDIT: Are you talking about the sony subs, amp, and box package? I don't care for sony's car audio stuff (I like a lot of their other electronics, but not so much their car audio). Go listen to it and if you think it sounds good, then try it. Keep in mind that a lot of places "tweak" the sound of speakers and subs using the amp/headunit controls to cover up areas the speakers might be lacking in. Make sure all EQ controls are set to zero (headunit), bass boost is off (headunit and amp), loudness functions off, etc. You can use these to make the speakers/subs sound better, but you want a baseline test first without corrective help so you can better gauge their performance. I could go on and on and on. A lot of car audio really is personal preference too so you may love one brand that I don't like/thinks it sucks, etc. and vice-versa. Just listen to a lot of different ones before you pick some. My Memphis sub sounds great IMO, but so did my old MTX, and they both sounded a bit different than one another so just listen to different brands.

Yeah I'd do the Fosgate amp too. It's time I started buying some interior/looks parts for my car. All I need left on the motor is forged internals.

NICEEEEEE!!!!!!!! How does it sound? Do you have a hatch?

Edit: NM you have a coupe. Does anyone know how subs sound off the glass. I'd assume pretty badass.

Yeah, I bought the pocket to replace the metal adapter the last owner out in for the radio. I also bought the "hammer" shift knob the AMS sells, bc I don't have one right now. I bought a shift boot from Redline to put in. I got a new seatbelt motor ECU to see if that fixes the problem I have with my driver's seatbelt. I'm going to re-paint the shifter trim and console plastic and get a blank insert from courtesynissan to cover the hole in my console. That'll do it for awhile other than the worn driver's side door fabric since I bought those seats in Jan. The fosgate setup sounds fine. Is it used or something or are you going over your 400 limit?

Go with a single TC Sound 12" dB-500.

It can be had for $109 + shipping.

Give it ~400w RMS at 4 ohms.

Get an inexpensive set of infinity speakers.

Get an inexpensive Dual HU that has preamp outputs.

Wire everything and enjoy

Impedance. Resistance to electrical flow.

Just find an amp with a power output of 400w RMS @ 4 ohms.

Link us to anything you find and wait for a response before you buy it. That'll save you from getting screwed as there are a LOT of crappy amps out there

Ryon, listen to Poorman. He knows his stuff. I know a lot too, but he knows a lot more. I've never heard TC sounds, I have heard plenty of people on this forum, whose opinions I respect talk greatly of it, but I don't like to buy any kind of speaker/sub if I can't hear it first, but that's just me. I doubt you'd go wrong with the TC though.

There are many great resources on the intraweb that can help you learn about car audio/video too. I'll try to get you some links later today.

Thank you for the kind words.

You've heard TC Sound subs before.

They make them for OEMs like Eclipse, SVS, and IIRC klipsch at one time.

You've more then likely heard the Eclipse subs. SQ first, but with enough SPL to hurt

I'm confused by your Name. It says Homegirlj2. But your name is Justin.

I take it that it's pronounced Justeen, correct?

Your welcome. Didn't know that about TC subs. Then I'd say they're great subs esp for SQ (sound quality)

No, it's Justin. I'm a guy. One of the mods *cough* (WDracing) *cough* likes to mess with some of us so he's playing with our names and custom titles. He changed it to homegirl

Wow, 400 bucks. That makes it kind of tough. Though I guess you have to start somewhere right?

For a sub, I think i'd go with that OEM10 they're offering for 175shipped (single 4ohm vc) because you can use a smaller enclosure and save trunk space.http://www.tcsounds.com/forums...=1013HifonicsTXi6006 amp130.00 plus shippinghttp://www.caraudiodeals.com/h....htmlEnclosure, I'd look in the news paper for a good used one for like 10-15bucks.

As for headunit and replacement speakers. That is up to you. Try to find someone that works at Best Buy for their awesome hookup!
