You know there are 10,000 Infiniti owners of this generation not having this problem, I really do have sympathy for those who do but really a forum like this is not a base to draw that conclusiondeeselcyde wrote:I currently have a 2010 loaded Altima 3.5 and I'm fed up with the fit and finish of the vehicle. So many squeaks, rattles, creaks, etc. I saw a used 2013 M37S yesterday at the Infiniti dealership and it was gorgeous like new blah blah. I have zero patience for rattles and buzzing sounds so I take it that this generation of M should be out of the question for me???
With all do respect there are also a lot of people (like pretty much everyone I vent to about my car) that says, "That noise? That wouldn't bother me." For example, my powered seat in my 30k Altima that was bought new, started creaking whenever it was initially sat in our went to zero gravity when going over freeway overpasses. This started happening at 50k miles. I'm currently at 83k miles and have had the bottom portion of the seat replaced twice and it still does it. I actually just got a call this morning from the head engineer or whatever saying that he tested another altima and it did the same thing, therefore it's a characteristic flaw for this model. The thing is the people I complain about this to all think it's not a big deal when in reality it SHOULDN'T be doing that. And my premium BOSE system does indeed rattle the back deck and parts of door panels buzz when certain frequencies are reached (this is after I had dynamat installed). I'm not trying to compare a M to an Altima. Again, family members all tell me I'm too anal. Oh well, I guess I am anal. I just don't want to drive myself nuts with rattles after buying a premium car that shouldn't express those problems at that pricepoint. I think it's safe to say that non-premium cars can expect to have a rattle or two after a couple years.mazz wrote:You know there are 10,000 Infiniti owners of this generation not having this problem, I really do have sympathy for those who do but really a forum like this is not a base to draw that conclusiondeeselcyde wrote:I currently have a 2010 loaded Altima 3.5 and I'm fed up with the fit and finish of the vehicle. I feel your pain.Brian117 wrote:My 2012 M37, with the upgraded sound system, has a rattle in the doors when songs with relatively heavy bass are played at more than about 60-70% of the maximum volume. The rattle is so significant that it almost sounds like the door speakers are blown. Mechanics at the dealership tested other cars on their lot when they learned of my complaint, and informed me that all the other cars have the same issue.
If true, this is a design flaw in the new M class Infiniti -- at least I can think of no other answer.
The dealership was great -- they kept the car over a week, working to fix the problem. They were unable to fix the problem, however. Accordingly, Infiniti sent out a specialist to look into the problem. His report indicated there was no problem, notwithstanding that both I and the dealership techs clearly heard the buzzing. It's unclear to me whether he didn't hear the problem, or if he is saying that this problem is somehow acceptable based on Infiniti design parameters -- he has refused to speak with me, according to the customer service rep at Infiniti with whom I've been speaking.
This is beyond disappointing. I paid extra for the upgraded sound because sound is important to me. For Infiniti to refuse to address the problem, and even to refuse to do me the courtesy of having the specialist that looked into the issue discuss his findings with me, speaks to a lack of concern for the customer.
