so i took out the back seat, all plastic parts in rear, rear deck, pillar plastics, trunk liner, spare tire, 6 disk changer(not going back in), and decided to sound proof everything that i can.

I'm going to lay down panels of the material, and patch up almost all the manufacturers internal sheet metal holes. I will also be removing the rear tires and spraying a liquid rubber inside the wheel wells to deaden the sound of rocks and crap hitting the wells.

I've just got the stock BOSE system, but i know it will work much better once the car is done with this. I'm doing it more for the road noise...b/c it's loud sometimes and I just don't like that.

after doing the trunk, rear deck, and rear seat area, i will be removing the headliner, sound proofing the roof, and reupholstering it with a black leather or suede. The plastics will be painted black, or covered in black suede.

Then i will remove the seats, and add a layer of proofing material to the foot areas.

the doors will be proofed behind the speakers only.

wish me luck, and check back for more pix.

PEACE

I deadened behind the front door speakers and over the plastic covers between the door and the door panel. I thought that cut down on the road noise quite a bit.

What product(s) did you buy for the job?

i've got Peel-N-Seal. I use a heat gun, and a Formica rubber roller to install. It works just as well as Dynomat!!

i did two layers the entire cab of my F150 and it worked great!! here is a link to my Truck interior!

are you using dynomat? your car will be driving like you always have a passenger. that much sound deadining material will weigh a good amount.

You can think you can notice a difference in the performance of your max with and without a passenger? Remember these are 4DSC's, not gutted race cars.

settle down, geeez!! i'm not using Dynomat because it's thicker than what i want.

I have a 3'X33.5' roll of Peel-N-Seal and it only weights 44.0 lbs, and i''m not going to be using the whole thing, so the weight of the vehicle isn't going to move much b/c i'm removing the spare tire, and relocating the battery to the trunk.

a chrome moly roll cage would weigh down my car like crazy, but that's not going to happen until the supercharged vq35 & 6 speed transmission is installed down the road.

Does it make a big difference in overall road/wind noise, too? I've always been dissapointed with the excessive wind noise in our cars - especially in the rear around the doors and windows.

There's a technical service bulletin about the rear wind noise issue.

If you're referring to the bulletin that says to pull back the door/window weather stripping and put 3M Foam tape between that and the metal of the car, I've done that (with extra tape even) but it didn't quite make the significant difference I was hoping for.

Sorry for being off topic. Is there another thread someone could direct me to that's got a better answer for the wind noise issue that does not require 3M tape? (I've used the search, but it came up with nothing.)

sound proofing the trunk, back seat, rear deck, and adding a layer of rubber to the wheel wells, HELPED A LOT!!!! i'd not heard about the 3M tape and window thing...where is that thread???

i did a double layer of Peel-N-Seal over the area of the trunk that has the muffler under it, btw.

all i have left to do with the Peel-N-Seal is the floor area for the rear passengers, under the front seats, and floor area. Then i'm adding a layer of Rubber coating under the entire car(not too close to the exhaust).
