alright guys...i've searched for this but couldn't find much that answered my question.

The question is, How loud would it be to install a Hotshot header on my 95 with no muffler?

My car isn't very loud at all with no muffler but i'm worried about the sound after the installation. There still is piping up to the rear suspension but the shell of the resonator, or whatever it is, just ahead of the rear suspension has been ripped off leaving only a black cotton-ball substance on the piping where the shell was...

My concern is with the noise, and if the cops would pull me over because of it. Thanks in advance.:)

Uhhh yes, with a muffler my car was already loud enough.

It will sound pretty NASCAR like. My friend has a Magnaflow resonator on 2.5 inch piping, attached to the KA24DE in his Datsun 510. That thing is frickin loud! I could only imagine with no baffle of any kinda.... muwahahaaaaaa!!! You'd be setting off car alarms all over the place.

after i put mine on, i had a few leaks, and they were loud enought to shake stuff in my house and my gf's house with my car like 30 ft away. and thats at idle. its LOUD. if the cops are bad around your area, you'll get as many complaints and tickets as this guy at my old work who had a B18 with just a header.

You wanna hear loud?

Try running JUST a 12" long downpipe off of the back of a T3 super 60 pushing 9 psi of boost at 6k rpm. Oh man does that thing sound AWESOME!

I'm going to be experimenting with pipe lengths/different sounds--I'll let you guys know how loud my KAT is with a) just the downpipes/some straight pipes and no muffler, b) just the downpipes/straight pipes, and a cat, and c) the whole exhaust, test pipe in place of cat.

I'm hoping that a) or b) won't be as loud as just running a 12" downpipe and nothing more. We'll see.

Alright, i have an update...

Instead of JUST runing that 14" downpipe, I ran both of my downpipes and part of a straight pipe, NO MUFFLER, for a combined tubing length of probably ~4 feet. Versus running just the first downpipe, this setup was actually a lot LOUDER--it vibrated like crazy---because it was just the downpipe, bolted to the turbo, and the second part of the pipe, bolted to the downpipe, no gasket. I'm hoping a flex-joint installed past the second downpipe will help with vibration.

But man, I was disappointed---I thought the longer pipe would help out with some of the noise; I guess it just supplied more metal for the air to resonate off of.

Speaking of resonators, my tanabe resonator, which I thought was just hollow, actually has a bunch of weird diffusers in it that looks pretty restrictive--I'm thinking I might cut the resonator out while I'm at it...

Does anyone know if a catalytic converter at the end of the straight pipes I've been talking about will silence anything?

Does anyone know if my exhaust will be louder with a straight-pipe in place of the catalytic converter?

I'm really hoping that the new, bigger, mandrel bent downpipes combined with a straight pipe in place of the cat will not be so restrictive as to cause boost drop off in the higher rpms--because it's wayyyyyy too loud to run without a muffler.

Damn, i gotta stop post-whoring.
