The plastic film behind the door panels that somewhat keeps the wind noise out is peeling off ever so slightly. I suspect this is also where the noise is comming from since I hear a lot of noise from the driver's door at high speeds. Is there any insulation material I can buy at a local shop (Autozone, Kragen, etc.) to tape to the back side of the door panels or to the inside of the door itself to reduce the noise level?

I'd used Dynamat in my '78 Olds Cutlass, which was already pretty solid, but it helped a decent amount as well. Do a search for it online - it's basically an asphalt type sound deadening piece of insulation commonly used in car stereo installations.

Has anyone tried quietcoat products? I did a little research on sound insulation and stumbled onto this...wondering if this is a good alternative to dynamat.

I'm very pleased with how quiet the Q is, personally. Everytime I end up driving in someone else's car it reminds me how damn well-built it is.

No doubt... I'm driving a rental Chrysler Sirrius 'vert. with 5K and it's amazing how sloppy it feels...

Lots of rattles and creaking from the back... love the rag top though.

As far as the stuff that holds the plastic "skin" on the door panels, I found that plumbers putty closely approximates the stuff that the factory used. I scraped the factory stuff off and replaced it with rolled up strings of plumbers putty a few years ago and it seems to be working well.

Sure its not a Sebring you rented? Same platform, different car. The Cirrus never came as a ragtop, and I'm being a pest.

Enough non-resonant mass and you will make anything tomb-like. The trick for automotive applications is obtaining the most attenuation at the desired frequencies for the least weight (mass) penalty.

I'm sure you're right... they're a dime a dozen here on the island of Hawaii. The car is poorly engineered and cheaply made, but I love the rag top... Infiniti won't do it, but I would seriously consider a G35 convertable.

Infiniti are extremely rare here from what I can see... I saw one FX, something else (can't remember) and a green 94-96Q near Hilo yesterday.
