Anyone done it? I need to pull my headliner to clean/dye it so I was thinking some sound deadening would do the car some good.

How would the clearance be? I don't want to have to hack up my headliner. It's a s13 hatch and has no sunroof btw.

I'm assuming 100sq. ft. will be plenty to do the doors, trunk area, headliner and rear seat area. I'm probably going with fatmat. $120 for a 100ft roll.

sounds like a good idea, why not be the first?? my thought is though, during the summer or really hot days. The sound deadener wouldn't unadhere itself would it? then that may cause sagging headliner?

I used vycor aluminum flashing to sound deaden my roof under the head liner, there's plenty of room up there, and I do notice less noise when it's raining, and less wind noise when I'm driving.

Here's a picture I found on a build thread here:

I thought about doing it while I was covering my headliner in suede, but I decided not to since I don't have a sunroof or anything and I don't get much windnoise from up there.

Hmmmmmm.....I guess I'll do the trunk and stuff first and make my choice once I get the headliner out. There does look to be quite a bit of room there. But as you said Raz, there's really not a ton of wind noise coming from the roof if there's no moonroof.

I get a CRAP ton of road noise from the hatch area. The previous owner replaced it with a carbon fiber hatch. It sounds like a sunroof is open almost, and there's really not too much to sound deaden there. We'll see.

I hate having a stripped interior, idk how you guys do it by choice with a daily driver.

fatmat works great, its what i used in my hatch area.
it killed off a lot of road noise, but there's still some squeaks and things i have to find. :squint:
