Ive read at a site that is no longer up, that to get the bushing out u just use a vise type device and "press" the bushings out.
I am not the best mechinic ever but i thought i could get the darn things off... no luck. I got the TC rods out with alittle help from mr impact wrench, and a drill for a stripped bolt. then in the moment of glory after i got the things out, i tried pressing the bushings out. i felt like kicking the garage door down... i couldnt get the stupid things out!!!@#@$
So... naturally... hey ill just go to a machine shop they can press them out!
"ummm yea we dont do that anymore its too time consuming, and the machine isnt working right now"^thats comming from the only machine shop around here!!!!!
mechanics all want 150+ to do it... ****ing rediculous. claiming its a 1.5+ hour job... half of them couldnt do it.... other half wanted rediculous amounts.
I need help from someone who has done this before... If i drill the rubber out, will the metal case on the outside come out easier? how should i go about doing this?? I have the time and patience please enlighten me!
Oh and dumb me thought i could walk the Pepboys employees through the process so they could use their equipment to press it out.....
me: "are u guys able to change the bushing on a tension control rod? or just press it out at least?""]pepboys dumbass#1: "hmmm whats that? do u have a truck?""]me: "nah a 240sx, little nissan car""]pepboys dumbass#1: "Well im sure only trucks have those tension rods.""]me: "...""]pepboys dumbass#2: "What the problem here?""]pepboys dumbass#1: "He says he needs tension arm bushings changed but they only come in trucks. He has a car so I think hes confused.""]pepboys dumbass#2: "Hmm, no... arent those for the engine???""]me: "guys... nevermind.."
i kid u not
