I just replaced my active pump (95 Q45a); it's a combo unit with the power steering pump. Now the fluid won't catch and I have no pressure in the system. I've already added fluid for what was in the pump.
There is an evacuating hydraulic lines procedure in the manual. Page FA-28. It consists of connecting a filler cap adapter to reservoir and then hooking up an air conditioning system vacuum pump to suck out all the fluid. Is there anything I can do myself to get fluid into the pump?
Is the fluid then just re-added after the vacuum? Can I reuse my fluid? The dealer wants $380 + new fluid.

FYI, New active struts, new front and rear main accumulators, rebuild pump accumulator, new pump accumulator pressure switch.
Reason for new pump: Code 41 + a humming/whurring noise from the pump after replacing pump accumulator.
