sort of noob question, but need help plz!!

so i installed a j30 diff, on my s13, non abs shaft. and the dif is abs. ive only driving with it for 5 days. ok my question is so how do i know when the rear main seal is bad/leaking... cause i have some liquid that puddles up on the drveway where the transmission meets the engine. im not sure if its transmission fluid or not cause i put redline mtl in it but the liquid isnt red. it looks kinda clear/hazel. thanks for the help guys.

You should just pull the trans back and inspect it. Otherwise if you dont want to do that. Fill both your oil and trans, and see which one loses fluid. But I would just pull the trans back.

well i never pulled a trans before. so how would i exactly go about doing this?? besides jacking the car up, and what not. like specifically to the transmission itself. and even then how would i know if the seal is bad or not??. like i said im a noob to this problem..thanks

unbolt it from the block and trans mount. be prepared with either a jack to catch it, or your chest if you're hardcore enough. it'll be pretty obvious if it's leaking. if you have the money and need it, change your clutch while the transmission is off.
