Wise choice and a fav over at maxima.org (can I say that?) Those are the base SE wheels and some early GLE's got them. I personally like the looks of those over the 97-99 SE wheels. Classic and clean... plus they are relatively light weight

Looks much better. I told you the newer OEM Nissan wheels look good on older Maximas. When you get around to replacing your tires you should get the 225/60's. It would fill in that gap and give you a smoother ride. But if you are planning to lower it a couple inches then keep the current tires.

how much is yours lowered? and how much did it cost?

From the way his car is sitting, I would guess about 3" inch drop or so. He's got some serious tuck going on there.

I've got a bunch of adjustment left on my coilovers. I like the way the N/A Z32 wheels look on the 4th gen Maxima. If I have my way, I'll be running 18" Z33 touring wheels on her.

It really all depends on if you want adjustable height or not. There's a huge thread about what suspensions people are running on their cars. Alot of people are running Tokicos and Eibachs which are relatively inexpensive. I don't think anyone other than myself is running coilovers but I may be wrong. For Tokicos and Eibachs, it would be ~$400 maybe? I'm not sure. Coilovers are a tad more, right around the $900 mark for the Basic Dampers, which are the only coils that Tein make for the 4th gen Maxima. They don't make one that's EDFC compatible.

HAAHHAHAHAH!!!!!

Seriously...don't worry about disappointing me. In the end its all about what you like on your car.

And to be honest...those are a much better choice.

Now just work on that wheel gap and you'll have a sleek 4th gen!!!

those basic dumpers where all the way down at that time and yea it is about a 3 inch drop. they ran me almost $900 put the same place i got them from is now selling them for $818. Optionimports.com is where i got them from, but if your not looking to spend that much money you can do like NSR was saying and go with the Tokicos and Eibachs springs i hear those ride coo.

Eibachs are around $200 and the tokicos are around $300.

Add in another $150 for labor and you're looking at $650.

I'm so glad you didn't go with those hideous wheels. They were uggggleee.

The alternatives look MUCH better!

Hey Gavin,

You might want to check yourself. I'm a math major. I've finished all of my lower division math with As and Bs (Algebra, Trig, Calculus, Differential Equations, Linear Algebra).

200+300+150=650

Edited by Staff. Play nice.

why would i add the 200 and the 300?? i understand the 150 but that is either 350 or 450... you kno?

MaximA32

Post

You would add the $200 and the $300 because the Eibachs are the springs and the Tokicos are the struts. So, $200+$300+$150=$650. Sentient wins at math but he could have gone about it in a more polite manner.

ah... would it not lower it if i didnt get both? and i would do that myself... i dont believe in mechanics... hahaha

MaximA32

If you got just the struts, it wouldn't do a thing. If you got the springs, it would lower it but you'd burn through the OE struts like Dave Chappell burns through weed.

It'd lower it with the Eibach springs but you'd probably ruin the stock struts within a few months, costing you more in repairs than it would be to do it correct the first time. The spring rates just don't match up. If you replaced just the struts, you wouldn't get any lower to the ground. Darn I got beat to it.

Can I ask why not go with Koni Sport Struts instead of the Tokicos? I understand they're cheaper, but we're talking about Koni quality. Then again I'm more interested in the performance than the lowering (Currently saving up for Eibach/Koni setup).

Whats the benefits of Coilovers vs. normal springs?

if you are going to get k sports you might as well go all out and get the coilovers. i've found them at times for around $750. IMHO the tokico kit ILK 246 is the best setup. it provides a subtle 1.5" drop and performs like no other. that plus front and rear strut bars and a rear anti sway bar, you are in for a fun time!
