Ok... so ive done this ... all vacuums fine ... boost is at .7 bar on gauge.. no leaks on piping... i took the timing cover off and made sure the timing marks were right... the car starts easy and idles good... but when i try to drive it ... its just boosting but not moving much .. no smoke from exhaust... but i try to drive it a bit and the turbo starts to glow red... ive checked the timing... and i set it to 15*(second last mark) with the tps sensor disconnected... what do u guys think is going on .. plugs are getting fouled up with carbon already hah... think i should change gap.. and what to ..there at 1.3 now ..tried 1 mm .. should try some diff plugs?? also when i did my wiring i connected the o2 heater wire to the fuel pump.. think thats messing with it ?? :help

Do a compression test on the engine, also, check if you have exhaust leak right on the exhaust manifold and turbo area( usually if there is leakage, the boost gauge will show boost but you don't feel the power)definitely check if your CAT is clogged.

also check for codes and see if you have the knock sensor hooked up right.

ok... i checked codes... was knock sensor ... i removed it looked ok... came back to my pc and looked up some info on it and found out that 89-90 240's had no sensor.. figured that much when i went to look to see if my ka had one... so i found that helpful lil post that says to wire it back up to the upper harness.. did it and got a 55.. so i take it for a spin and it runs good but its daylight so i cant tell if turbo is glowing or not .. so i touch it and burn my hand off ... just kidding... it runs good but when i let off the throttle it smokes black ... dunno if i screwed up the turbo and its leaking oil or not ... it boost fine 0.7 bar steady and fast too.. dunno.. im too worried about messing up the turbo to enjoy it today ... but i did open it up for a bit on straight and DAAAAAMMMNNN ... was funny had some car club freinds here tonite and 2 of them were talking about where there Vtec kicks in.. overheard one say "mine kicks in at 4300 rpms" .. hehe and i jumped in and said my boost kicks in at 3000.... hah... dunno if it does tho :D but im happy ...thanks all for helping me out

i had the exhaust done today .. 3 inch all the way back.. car started to over heat ... so i got home and car died ... doesnt wanna start... the water is all gross smelling and murky yellowish .. so i figure head gasket went out... i hope thats the only problem... im a lil tired of working on it.. so im trailering it to a shop to get the head gasket replaced... we'll see how that goes... shop does sr swaps.. so i figure the mechanic can handle the head gasket... and he is a pretty cool guy so i trust him ... anyways will probably take a few weeks ... so till then.. back to the foot mobile ;) heh

I know it's not related but does your 3" exhaust go over or under the axle? (Under meaning closer to the road, over mean closer to the body)

I want to get mine done and I'm debating between a 2.5" from the cat back (3" DP to 3" cat) or just going 3" all the way..

3" all the way and its under the axle ... dont think there is room to go above... all the exhaust systems ive seen go under... and even with 3" its not to low .. looks and sounds good... has alot more power too ... till the head gasket went...

mine is a 2.75in exhaust and itgoes over the axle just fine. only thing on it is a cat and its dead quiet inside and sounds low and mean as hell from the outside. (its a nismo stainless by the way..).

anyway, it sucks to hear about your head gasket. hope you get it fixed soon. for the money i would hit dee up for a nismo metal head gasket, i guarantee you wont get that puppy to leak.
