Yeah I already searched I just need a definate answer. I went to the junk yard today in hopes of finding a set of altima fans. The only one I found had a front end accident the fans didn't look too harmed but I didn't want to try and pry them out if I didn't have to. BUT... There were a few KA powered Sentras (looked like KA's) They were a bit older but appeared to be the same fans. Are they or is there something unnoticable like the RPM of the motors or CFM of the blades?

Go for the ford taurus SHO fan. Its a 2 speed fan and works awesome. I have one and have never had to use the high setting. Average temp around here during summer is about 100* and I was running stock radiator with ka-t.

If you do get the SHO fan make sure you get the plug with it.

I'll look for one, but SHO's might be a rare find at the junk yard.

You can get the non SHO fan as well. The difference is that its only a one speed. I never used my high speed so you'll prob. be fine with just the low. speed.

Hey wildmax: did you have any trouble fitting the fan on your radiator? The fan seems much larger, and if I 'bottom' it out on the radiator it sticks up about 1-1.5" above the top. My intake piping is in the way now... just curious how you positioned it.

Cheers,'slip

I didn't really cut the piss out of it.. I just trimmed the wrong side. The other side where the radiator outlet is needed to be trimmed.

wild maxx, did you wire the sho fan into where your stock A/C fan used to be wired? or did you put it on a manual switch or a temperature auto switch?

for reference sake since this thread was resurected. The sentra fans work fine. they are identicle to the altima ones except mine have white blades and the altime has black (only difference I can see) the wiring is the same also. I paid 20$ from my local you-pull-it for em.

PS - I finished installing my 3.8L Taurus fan: works great. When I first installed it, I left the bottom trim as is, and rested it on the bottom lip of the rad. This caused clearance issues with a KA24DE intake. I had to trim quite a bit off the whole shrowd for it to fit properly. I hated to use the radiator zip ties, but I didn't have much choice. At least it is still resting on the bottom lip. Also I needed to cut the A/T coolant hose pipes off the rad (not used for a M/T application). The low speed works just fine on a stock relay and 30A fuse.

Cools great. PS - double check your wiring with a battery before installing: I miswired mine the first time and had to re-do it!

I'm using a thermoswitch to control the main fan, and I wired the aux in place of the existing AC electrical. I'm working on a relayed switch to turn both fans on high as an in case of emergency insurance. I notice the thermoswitch is a little slow on response since it relys on ambient air temp (I have it tucked into the side of the radiator so it stays the same temp as the rad itself.) So I don't really trust it much. It's a temp fix untill I can afford a DIF controller.
