I got fed up with the higher gas prices so I decided to downsize. Besides, the Q always felt a bit too ostentatious and I was not using it to its full potential with the driving I am doing these days. I also missed having a manual transmission - driving an auto just doesn't quite feel like you're truly driving.
I bought myself a 1992 Accord 5-speed coupe:
227,000KM (141,000 mi), well taken care of and unmolested by tuners. It's a compotent, reliable practical automobile that is not completely boring.
It doesn't have the luxury and power of the Q, but it is a well-built car that does basically everything I ask it to. I will miss the heated seats and auto-dipping mirrors on the Q, but this car does have a couple features that I didn't have on my Q. I really love the glass sunroof and the fact that I now have functional remote locks.
Plus, the CB7 Accords are well known for their reliability. It has a 4 cylinder engine and with the way the engine goes, you can tell why Honda never offered a V6 with these cars... the 4 gives more than enough power, even on the highway.
I'm loving the fuel mileage this car gets. My latest fill was from highway driving and I got 7L/100KM or about 33MPG. Even the city mileage of this car is better than the best highway mileage I got out of the Q.
I'm in the process of selling the Q so I hope she ends up in the hands of someone who will appreciate her.
