i care... ive been a KA-T guy for a very long time. 3 motors, 2 trannies, 2 clutches and countless hours of tuning etc...

i still have the s14, but i dont know how much longer. i MIGHT turbo it again, but maintaining 2 toy cars and a bike is very hard for a poor college student like me to do.

well after driving it, SRs arent really all nuts and stuff to get over. just spools quicker, and longer redline. NOT even close the the kick i used to get when i get in boost with 18psi on my KA-T.

my Ka-t or in other words, my S14 in general, has given me nothing but problems... i gave it MANY chances. i even changed a couple motors to keep it happy and running. i even spent the time to buy it 2 sets of wheels and skirts... it never really loved me as much as i thought. it always wanted to break on me but i couldnt let go. after the first time we boosted, i knew it was meant to be. but it all changed... i dont know anymore, i found someone else.

The key is stay Nissan. Now you'll gain experience with both motors and can form your own opinions on the good/bad of the most common swap in history. The SR is by no means a bad motor. Some people just have preferences...like myself. I can't see stuffing another 4 banger in a car that already has one. If I ever swap, it'll be for alot more cubes.

everything happens for a reason. at least now u can get a taste of what the dark side entails. this might not bring u back to ka-t but it will make u realize even more the apparant differences b/w the two setups. a nissan is a nissan......................

damn, i wish i had two 240's. congrat's on the new car. i like sr's, i would put one in my car if i didn't live in california. i just finished putting one in a s13 and upgraded it with a gt2871 and a fmic and it ran really strong.if you can afford it, i would keep the s14 and ka-t it again since now you have a daily driver.

hehe, modding for the SR has already begun!

i upgraded the SR with a s14 bb t28 turbo . just gotta turn up the boost and see how that goes.

as for the spare t25 that i have now, i might just run a small t25 setup on the s14 with a sidemount IC for stealth . not sure yet...

What happened to the poor college student?? Al these upgrade when you could of had the KA-T fixed.......I say make the s14 stock motor again. So it's reliable. Get a secondary block and have it built to perfection. And put quality parts on it. Save for a year, Then post "Look what happened over the weekend"Stock ka24de----> fully built ka24de with gt35r with aem ems, with coilovers, with volk wheels, with whatever the h3ll you like it's your car

SR is a good motor. It can take quite a bit of abuse without opening up the motor.

However, if anyone here wanted to hear about sr's, they'd visit to the SR forum.

apparently not, theyre prone to have oiling issues, and due to my luck, i got it. low oil pressure resulting in rod knock. oh well i guess they cant take the abuse that i thought it could.

Man, you have rod knock already?? Sounds like you bought a lemon my friend. I'd have a talk with the previous owner...soon. Let me know if there's anything I can do.

oh its ok, nothing hard to fix. just swap out blocks and everything should be fine. i bought a SR block for 360 so i should be swapping it out this weekend and everything should be good to go, also while its out i can install my HKS turbo manifold i just got!

As for the s14 KA... i havent really done anything to or WITH it the last week or so. just sitting there, looking all pretty. im not sure what im going to do with it. maybe something big soon?

after you get the block replaced.pound down the oil pan and get the oil pickup tube with the brace on it.those are the most common reasons sr's are prone to bearing failure.a. oil pickup tube is butted up against the bottom of the pan starving the engine of oil.b. oil pickup tube breaks off and falls in to the pan from the pressure on it from hitting the oil pan and constant engine vibration.

btw.

that's my setup except for a few key parts that lead to me running on 3 cylinders like a 2.4l geo metro.
