I apologize if I'm asking some stupid questions here... but... I'm new to the Nissan brand... this is my first 96 240sx se and I love the car.

Few questions if someone would be helpful..

S13 = ?S14 = my model I think...S15 = ?

ka24de = 2.4L dohc 4 Cylka24e = ?sr20det= ?

you see where I'm not understanding?

Would anyone be nice enough to go through the models and years?

I just want to learn what year holds what kind of engine and what engine types there are for 240 sx.

S13 = the model before yours. 89-94 in statesS14 = yours, 95,96 then 97,98 with make overS15 = only in japan, 99-02

ka24de = 2.4L dohc 4 Cylka24e = single overhead cam 89-90sr20det= the motor used in japanese s13-s15 after the ca18's

btw earlier models are "zenki" and later models are "kouki"...check out that link and impress your friends when you tell em you have a 240 drifting machine

Didn't know S15 was only in Japan...Didn't know... there was "zenki" and "kouki"

so... ca18's are the older model engines... right???

thats before the sr20det? and where does ka24de fit in?? hmmm....

here's something that will make you seem like a pro, most people bash the ka motors because it was used in trucks here in the U.S but tell these know-nots that it was used in the 240sx in 89 before the trucks in 1990!!! it's a drift motor morons! lol

I'm new here to but the people here seem to be pretty helpful. I haven't run into anyone that is intolerable. Everyone has been great. Welcome to the forum. I am just starting to learn about the 240 myself. I had always dreamed of building a silvia since I bought one on gran turisimo when I was like 14. My friends always looked at me like wtf are you talking about a silvia. I said I dunno where they are from but I bought one on gran turisimo and it is sweet. So just recently I sent my altima se-r back from lease and got a 240 because it has been made possible to build one now. I'm bad about using the search function myself but sometimes a new topic beats bumping a year old topic up to the top. IMO of course.
