Have no fear!! Sopdadope is here!! Don't worry guys, I'm alive and breathing!
Unfortunately, some projects I'm working on have wiped out my NICO existence. I haven't had the chance to drop in as much as I use to and not nearly as much I'd like to which sucks because I love this place and miss some of the off-the-wall antics (*ahem* AZhitman.) I didn't even know my presence was being missed until Daniel gave me a heads-up.
As far as emails go, I'm sorry I haven't been up-2-date with those and I'll shoot 'em back when I get the chance. My cell phone recharger's crapped out on me too so to those calling me on me cell: more sincere apologies.
Being the self-righteous, plight-conscious sap that I am (if you don't know, just browse through my posts in any politic threads, lol), I've (with the help of a truly great friend) been working to establish a non-profit organization that will strive to raise money to help in the de-mining of Cambodia.
Our goal is to not be an idle organization, hinging on the hopes that people will voluntarily donate money for the greater good of humanity, though that would be great but plan to host a variety of cultural exhibitions such as dances, plays, museum exhibitions where patrons could take home pieces of Cambodian culture.
We are also aiming at working with travel agencies in setting up an Eco-Cultural-Tour that provides travellers with a preserved, natural serene beauty of the country from the seat of authentic water-buffalo carriages, cyclos and handbuilt wooden canoes and not gawdy Land-Cruisers and zipping motor-boats that have proven to be detrimental to the natural environment and wildlife. By the way, if you're wondering how you could help, check out Adopt-A-Minefield.
In the meantime, I'm trying to get aboard the Geekcorps program, Geekcorps and would love to get involved in actively helping, regardless of how trivial my contributions may be. The fact that I haven't gotten a degree doesn't sit well with them, but I know a maneur-load of programming and it'd be unwise to turn me down.
Lastly, I've been working on getting my construction supervisor license.
:sigh: So though it may sound like a busy, young man, I actually spend a lot of my day, fossiled in front of the xbox playing Return to Castle Wolfenstein. :
Hero of the day: That man in the rice fields, scouring the soil with a metal detector for a fraction of a dollar's pay, a day. Not because his stomach tells him so, but because his conscience doesn't let him sleep.
Heroine of the day: Angelina Jolie. Not only can this woman kick series booty (while diving off skyscrapers and doing 720 deg triple-sowkows while blasting baddies with dual uzi's and making it look easy and looking good doing it) but she's an even bigger hero in real life. Has donated millions and in last year's case, 80% of her earning's in the bettering of lives all over the globe. She's a saint in chic clothing!
OK, enough babble from me.
It's really awesome that you guys care. I'll never, ever, ever forget my NICO brethren.
