Check your brake fuild level first. See if you've lost some fluid.

How old are you brake rotors and brake pads?

If you pump your brake pedal does it build up pressure and get firmer with less travel?

Without a maintenance history, any are. Standard practive to replace all fluids and filters of unknown provenance. What was revealed by the Senior Infiniti Tehcnician's pre-purcahse inspection? By the Infiniti Dealer performed service history which you obtained prior to the inspection?

These two reports will indicate where you need to start your maintenance triage efforts.

i bought it off craigslist i didn't have any inspection like that.

but i was just working on my car and came to the conclusion that i blew a brake line so tomorrow im gonna jack it up and get a closer look and order a stainless steel replacement.

with that note does anyone know how difficult it is to change out your brake lines?

rubber lines or metal? the rubber lines are real easy to change but now you have to bleed the system after install. at least the end of the system the break occurred on. i.e. if you blew a rear line bleed both real calipers. Get braided lines and they will outlast your car as well as give a firmer pedal.

So you're willing to trust your life to a part for another car that's been lying around for some time? So glad you are not in Texas!

Nothing on Craigslist prevents you from obtaining the Infiniti Dealer performed service history or having a Senior Infiniti Tehcnician inspect it.

But if you had red the sticky about how to buy a Q45, you would know that.

but i somehow misinterpreted what you were saying i did get the maintenance history and i did read the how to buy a q45 thread and i had an tech inspect it.
