Do you feel they are important for say.. an Intake?

Im planning on getting one of the cheapos on ebay to replace the plastic intake on my ka, use a piece of pipe i have left over from the CAI in my Galant, powder coat these... and have the cone i have on there now in the fender well on the driver side.

Or would i be better a system like Aem or Weapon R or something like that?

Don't forget about the Blitz SUS filter. There are no oils or foam, only fine metal mesh. That means that you don't have to worry about filter oil getting on the MAFS or replacing a piece of foam every few months.

I ghetto rigged mine. I romoved all of the stock air boxes and put a K&N air filter on. Then i went out and got a funnel and some rubber pluming tubes. I cut the funnel to a good length there it be close to the opening of the fron bumper, stuck it to one end of the rubber tube that fit perfectly through the air box hole. Then I put an adapter piece so the tube went directly under my filter forcing the colder air into the filter. The next thing i'm going to do is make a heat sheild to seperate the cone from the rest of the engine bay. I think the whole thing, minus the air filter was like $10-$12. You can feel a difference in 1st and thrid gear alot, it just pulls all the way through. I also have a very high milage motor (233xxx)
