Jeez I leave for a few months and this forum explodes with posts! I'm too lazy to read them all though, so I figure I'll throw a short update out there of what I've been up to.

First off, sorry to all you Norcal guys, for the time being I've relocated to Anaheim and am currently working for the Walt Disney Company. Fun stuff!
Image
Second, I've added a few bits and pieces to my car, namely a new headunit (the Pioneer AVIC Z130BT) and holy crap what a difference that bad boy makes. My stock sound system seems completely different (in a good way).

Third, I'll need to take my car into get several pieces repainted. I covered the front of my car in blue tape in order to protect it from rock chips on the 8 hour drive down to San Diego and when I removed some of of the paint I found that there were strips of paint missing on my lip spoiler and painted mustache, which I attribute to a shoddy paint job. No pictures of the damage available at the moment though.

Anyways, Just thought I'd let you all know what's up and that I'm stoked to hopefully meet with some of you Socal people!

Oh man I want that AVIC. I was always back and forth between the Z120 and the Alpine W900BT. Cant you give that thing voice commands? Like "Play artist DJ B Easy" and it will search your iPod, inserted CDs, and the frickin HD radio for it?

Yeah it has voice commands but I haven't tried telling it to search for specific artists yet. I'll have to try that later. On a side note, my OEM battery finally died after 2.5 years

I recently graduated from college but I'm a college program intern, so I'm a front line in the park cast member. I work in retail, but I've actually just finished applying for other internships with the company.

Head unit looks great. You should try to order the factory Nissan trim piece for your 2.5. It'll keep the original texture, making it look nicer :)

I have a 3.5 :dblthumb: and the trim doesn't really bother me

Whoops. I thought all 3.5's come with the automated climate control.

Is it a Metra kit? Because if it is, it will start to bother you over time. I had one in my Coupe and it would expand with heat or something and start to effect the HVAC buttons near the bottom. They would get stuck in and whatnot, it was so annoying. Trim piece is like $25.00, makes a huge difference IMO. But if you are happy with it and dont have issues I guess its all good.

Did you talk to the AVIC yet? Im interested to hear how it works.

Not sure what the trim kit is, something that my Audio guy fabbed and installed. I haven't talked to the AVIC about specific songs, but I have used it to mute, navigate, and call certain numbers. I'll make sure to try it on my way to work tonight though. Also, Pandora is only functional if you have an iPhone, which I'm kind of bummed about since I have a droid.

Not all 3.5's come with automated climate control, I do believe that was a part of another package.

^You can stream Pandora from your Droid through Bluetooth. The iPhone integration just allows you to search and skip tracks on the touch screen of the actual headunit, rather than on the phone itself.

Trim piece is part# 68520 in the second diagram in this link:

http://www.courtesyparts.com/altima-cou ... _6652.html

And it looks like this installed:

Close up to show texture is identical to factory...since it is a factory piece.

I fabbed a little tray underneath, since you have a double DIN you wouldnt need it. Its only available for coupes with manual climate control. It makes all of the difference in the world IMO.

So...take another peek at that diagram, see part# 68520M? Are you currently using that with your set-up or not? If not, want to sell it to me?

Bizzare

+1 on the Avic, i love mine i've had the Z120 for a while now (firmware updated to Z130). The voice control is Ok i dont use it a ton but it def works, if you want better voice integration i think Kenwood has better voice integration. The ipod integration is the best part of it i bought a cheap classic and just leave it in the car. And like you said the Pandora integration with the iPhone is pretty cool.
