K. Long story short, I have a big stereo in my car, everything was rattling. So in the process of eliminating all the rattles, I put 1/2" thick weatherstripping foam between the rear glass, and the back hatch. Stopped the rattle completely.

But now, my door ajar light is always on.... Im assuming there is a sensor on the back glass, and the window is now to far away from it because of the foam.

BUT, I cannot open the damn rear window, the latch button doesnt "pop" it, Im thinking because it already thinks its open, but the damn thing isnt unlatched and I cant get it open

I tried pushing on the bottom of the window as hard as I could and having a friend pull the latch buttom, but it wouldnt go.

SO I need a way to unlatch this window, I tried removing the panel on the back of the hatch to gain access and manually open it, but theres no access from what I can see. I just wanna tape down that sensor or something to get the light off.

Any ideas?

I believe your rear window release switch will "pop" the window whether the window is open or not. Once youe get it open, give it a shot.

In any case, since the problem is caused by the foam strip, can you get to the foam and cut it? Is there a way to removed the foam once it is cut? I assume that only one side of the foam is sticky and the other is not.

Sure, cutting the foam destroys it, but it is giving you grief, so why not get rid of it.

Relieving the pressure caused by the foam should reduce the stress on the latch and allow you to open the window.

Since the 1/2" foam causes too much strees, maybe try 3/8" or 1/4", which ever reduces the gap the best without putting too much pressure on the glass.

I believe rear window has a sensor. One time my "door ajar" light came on. I checked all four doors and mde sure they are closed. Then I found the rear window was open. I shut the rear window and not more light...

This may sound stupid, but did you try using your key in the rear hatch to unlock the glass?

I assume volp is asking me.Most times I used the door button to unlock the glass. Sometimes when I was at back, I used key to unlock it. what about it?

Sorry if I am not the person being asked.

No I was asking WOT, he didn't write it so I assumed it wasn't done. Maybe it'll work.

What? the key unlocks the glass to? I thought it just unlocked the hatch?

Hell Ill go try that on my break, never thought of that

I did manage to get the window seperated from the hatch though, but smply unscrewing the handle form the window and leaving the latches connected lol, wish I woulda seen fuelers post before I did that though. It appears I cannot "trick" the window into thinking its closed....

Id really like for that light to go off though!!

And I cant go thinner with the foam, the 1/2 compresses just enough so that nothing rattles, I tried other stuff and the window just goes crazy with the music
