To start off, I just want to say Hi. :)

I went to the Infinity dealership and fell in love with the 2004 G35s. One thing I noticed was that the G35x sedan had AWD. Is that similar to the AWD system of the skyline or a little different?

I couldn't help but notice the 04 G35 coupes. (Have to love the 18 inch wheels, 280HP and brembo brakes) It's a shame they are only RWD. Is the 2005 version going to be incorporated with AWD like the sadan? Maybe TT or supercharged in the future?

My last question would probably be the most difficult. 04 G35 Coupe or 04 G35x Sedan or wait? All help appreciated. :)

The G35 is a skyline (in Japan it is)

The AWD is as close as you can get to the R34 GTR.The G35c AWD is very sketchy at this stage, the skyline that will come to U.S. shores will be AWD so not to compete with the G35 I don’t think there will ever be a G35 AWD. For that there is a Skyline GTR.

Get the G35 coupe, I have an AWD car, so...does it handle better? a little is it heavier and therefore slower, yes. Unless you live where you have plenty of snow then you should consider AWD for those stormy days, while if you live in south cali, get the coupe its faster…:D

Get the coupe! I love mine, I don't regret buying it one bit. The only option that I probably would reconsider is the navigation. I haven't used it at all, but it may be good for resale. Another thing you can save alot of money getting aftermarket items like the spoiler and woodgrain off the internet. The dealers price is a rip off.

Welcome to NICO, Marc!

yes the AWD system is the ATTESA same as Skyline GTR.

There are currently no plans to make the Coupe AWD except in the form of the Infiniti (Skyline) GTR which may come ot US in 2006/2007.That car will have the ATTESA AWD and either a 3.5L engine with twinTurbo or a VK45de 32 valve V8 as currently in Q45/M45.With 6 speed transmission.

2004 Coupe unless I live in the snowbelt I would prefer the RWD and with winter tires a RWD car can do r,eal well in the snow belt too.

I used to own a 92 Q45 (RWD) with winter tires in MN and kept passing stuck SUV's in winter.

You have great taste!....the g35 coupe is a great car...I recently took ownership on Oct 31st , and I really love this car! as far as an all wheel drive coupe...I wouldn't hold my breath...I think this type of vehicle is not really what nissan is looking to compete against its other models already availabe w/AWD. I'm going to test drive the Gsedan AWD next time I get the coupe serviced and see what its all about....anyway if you live in winter climate and plan on a coupe..Make sure you invest in snow tires for the winter! I have the 18" wheel pkg w/ the summer rated tires and this car will not go any where if there's snow on the ground...but other than that its a great ride for the money!!!!!!

Agreed ... an excellent point! I have always felt that navigation systems make a lot of sense for rental cars (so I use Hertz's NeverLost™ often on business trips in new cities) but it makes relatively little sense for a personal car, IMHO.

Frankly, if you get lost going back and fro from work or the local supermarket, etc., a fancy navigation system is not going to cure the underlying real memory loss problem! :D

Thanks for all the help so far! I'm taking a test-drive with the 04 G35 Coupe on Friday, so we will see how everything works out. Is the extra $900 worth it for the upgraded Bose system? Are there currently any mods worth buying for the G35 coupe? Thanks.

I was not aware that the Bose was an upgrade. Actually I went to check out having a system put in custom and they wouldn't install anything because they havent come out with the dash kits yet. So I don't know what it would have without a Bose. Also at my dealership they told me that they were not in the business of modifying car. I did my mods aftermarket, seems that the dealer would be a little more $. If you do decide to start modifying talk to AZ, he has a killer exhaust. Mine is starting kick up the RPM's after 5-6 days, I guess the ECU had to reset. If I ever can figure out how to get this digital recorder to transfer over I will put the audio on here.

Marc,

There are a few mods out there, BRM (one of our sponsors) has just come out headers and exhaust at very competive pricing and of good quality.

Stillen another sponsor also has exhausts for G35

NISMO products for G35 are also being sold by our sponsors Pinnacle Nissan/Infiniti, Scottsdale Infiniti and Grubbs Infiniti.

Links for all these are on our homepage.

Welcome to NICO, it's always nice to get some more G's on the board.

Are you sure that there are no dash kits available for an aftermarket stereo? Because I am pretty sure that I have seen a couple floating around here in cyber space. As for mods, read through the rest of the threads, I am pretty sure you can get some good info besides what has been mentioned above.

The Bose upgrade comes with the premium package. The standard system is a 160-watt, 6-speaker AM/FM/cassette audio system with stackable 6-disc CD player. The upgrade is 222 Watts 6-disc autochanger, 7 speakers with Bass-Bossting Nd woofer. The only problem is that the upgrade costs $900 and is required through the premium package. Does anyone know if the upgraded system is worth the price? Thanks.

EDIT: I tried searching for sound clips of some aftermarket exahusts for the G35C but found none. Does anyone know where I can hear/see a few?

No, the Blows system is not worth $900. You can do better with aftermarket stuff. None of the aftermarket dash kit companies are going to make a dash kit for the G, but you can order the JDM Skyline double-DIN dash unit that allows for mounting aftermarket equipment.

Add aftermarket sound equipment to a 6spd bremboed 04 coupe and you're ready to roll.

I don't think we have any on the site yet. E-mail GetThreeFive. He just installed BRM exhaust on his G35. Maybe he can hook you and all of us up with some audio.

Nick

P.S. Here's the link to a thread on the exhaust.

No the upgraded system is not worth the price but the premium package is worth the upgrade to the bose system.

GeeThreeFive: Your dash kit is MUCH more complicated than that. The radio and air conditioning controls share the same circuuit board. In order to install an aftermarket head unit AND keep your a/c controls you need to obtain Nissan skyline a/c controls and dash trim pieces (about 300.00 for both) from a JDM distributor.

I also have navigation if it complicates things more. It's to late for me to change my mind now anyway. The car already had the system and I was taking that car home. I had read the thread about this guy installing an Alpine system and that got me all fired up to go check out stereos. That's kind of blown over. Now I'm looking at NOS. I think it is boredom looking for adventure.

you can always use the high power line to act as a rca cable/remote cable... you dont need a aftermarket faceplate/deck to have a working sub/amp...and im sure the bose faceplate can handle the however many speakers are on that car

just make sure if your getting over 600rms power get a capicator/0 or 4 gauge wiring and a deep cycle battery... 0 gauge will run your amp at a consistent 1ohm if it can go that low
