Hey all,

I've been lurking around the forums for the last week or so but just registered today as I am going down to the local Nissan dealership to finalize my purchase of a 2008 Nissan Versa SL Hatchback.

Since it's the SL model I am going with a 6-speed manual transmission and the colors will be Sapphire Blue exterior with Charcoal Cloth interior. In addition to this I am including:

TECHNOLOGY PACKAGE -Bluetooth Hands-Free Phone System -Six upgraded speakers plus Rockford Fosgate-powered subwoofer (280 watts) -Steering-wheel-mounted audio controls -Leather-wrapped steering-wheel -XM Satellite Radio

SPORT PACKAGE -Fog lights -Front and rear aero bumpers -Rear roof spoiler -Lower body side sill extensions -Power sliding glass sunroof with tilt feature -Dual illuminated visor vanity mirrors

One question I have after doing extensive research on this car is that in the USA you can get it with "Intelligent Key keyless ignition and entry system" but there is no such mention if it up here in Canada... does anyone know why at all?

Either or I can't wait for the car and I am super stoked to have found these forums - I look forward to posting here!

Welcome to NICO!

Unfortunately, Canadian Versas don't get the iKey system. Kind of a bummer, I had one on V#1 and it was absolutely wonderful.

Wecome! It's unfortunate you don't get the IKey in Canada...I love mine...but the Bluetooth is sweet

That really is too bad about the Intelligent Key. It makes it so much easier to get into the car/trunk! I wonder why its not offered in Canada.

The technology package rules though.

Well, a bit of an update. Went into the dealership and laid down my $500 deposit for them to bring the car in now. Now I wait... they said it will probably be about two weeks... it's gonna be the longest two weeks ever.

Gah! Called the dealership today for a status update and they said it's looking like two weeks (which is odd because they said two weeks one week ago).

Wish I would've known that before I sold my current car as I'm now car-less...

Yep, definitely gonna wait... just wish it wasn't as long of a wait! lol...

Anyways, rather than whine and complain I'm going to take this opportunity to learn. This is my first NEW car ever, so what's the proper way to break in the engine? Should I just do city driving? Should I just to highway driving? Should I do both?

Thanks all!

Just got a call from the dealership at lunch - the car is there! They are putting the protection package on tomorrow and letting it dry / set on Wednesday and I get to pick it up Thursday after work!

I'm sooo excited!

Also I noticed that over the weekend Nissan Canada added the Versa to the Bonus Days promotion and that it is eligible for $300 pre-paid Visa.

Do you think I will qualify for that as I had already got the car brought in before they added it? I haven't signed anything yet so technically I haven't purchased it so I think I should.
