What's up guys! Just sold my Qx4 and i'm about to buy a G35 between 03 & 05 year range. I was set on the RWD model because i thought it was more fuel efficient. I was on the phone with a dealer and told me that the G35X is just one gallon difference on MPG between the two. Is this true?I usually see the RWD for highway get like 27-28 MPG and the AWD getting like 23-24 MPG. Please someone confirm this and give my some advice. I'm pretty much ready to buy this week.

It is really close. I have a second generation sedan so It does not help. I would say it is close if you drive them same way. The problem with the X is you don't feel it that much so you hammer it more. Between me and my wife there is 4-5 mpg. But with the same driving style especially on HWY should be close. The x is rwd after 12mph. So it should not make a big different.

Also if you got a chance buy the 05. 03-04 first 2 years for the G.

Hope it helps.zozo

You live in NY... Buy an X unless you want to deal with 2 types of tires.

Buy an 05 or newer! We call the 03-04 sedans the black sheep of the G35 lineup!

I would bet money that if you like to drive you will never see more than 20-22 mpg because the G's just beg for more!

They love to be driven to the limit and that uses a lot of Premium Fuel! But it is worth every penny Trust me

Why are the 03-04 called the black sheep? Pretty much the same car as the 05 except for the bumper. How about in power? Do you feel any difference between the RWD and AWD?

i was kinda worried about gas milage when i got my 05 g35x... but the X as stated above in normal driving runs as a RWD... except during dead stop accelleration and during wheel slippage.

so your city gas milage would be effected more than your highway milage. im getting 18 mpg in the city and low-mid 20s on the highway with 93 gas. i have a semi heavy foot

i personaly like the piece of mind the G35x gives you in bad weather... we get alot of rain/ice in ga... usually... not lately...

Then you have the better handling in dry weather since you have an AWD car. The 05 model G35x its 280hp/270ft-lb while the RWD manuals are 298hp/260 ft-lb. I personaly liked having more torque than HP with AWD. Also the stock automatic G35 is clocked faster than the stock manual G35 in zero to 60mph...

You can get 27-28 MPG with a 6 speed manual on the highway. You will not get that in city driving in heavy traffic.IMHO wait and buy a new one when you can afford it. Just my $.02

Have my eye on an 2005 with 42k on it. Should be purchasing it tomorrow. Let me ask you guys something, looks like it doesn't have the bose system on it. The radio isn't a tape deck, CD combo and says infiniti on the radio. I thought it was standard on the G35's? Am I losing much in sound without the Bose? Is the tiptronic standard on it?

Don't mind telco. Half of us wouldn't be here if we had to buy a new one lol.

The Bose system was an option with the premium package. I've only heard one Bose system in a car and that was in my 96 I30. Since then, I've been ...eh on the subject.

You might also want to look at what other options are "missing". My base coupe did NOT have the following:

Automatic headlightsAuto-dimming rear view mirrorSunroofSeat memory settingsAuto tilt and telescoping steering wheelBose

i have the bose system on my 2005... it sounds good.. could be better in the mid range.. alot of bass and highs... the bose system is amplified on every speaker and has tweeter and a woofer... 6 disk in-dash changer also

get a premium package if you can find one with it.

The Highs are what are missing! That is why you need to do a tweeter upgrade! It makes a Million dollar difference!

One of the Guys will be by soon to give the link!

1+ for the bose! That way you get a Sub... If not you don't get the sub in the rear deck!

yeah the highs are ok if you crank the EQ on them up to 5 and the EQ bass to 0 so they not drowned out by the bass.... thats how i have my bose radio setup...

but there is not EQ on the mid range... That would lead me to assume there is no amp on the mid range

if the mid range was better i would be completly satifed... But the bose is way better than the non-bose system!

If you get the tweeters and then turn up the bass... then it sounds really nice and Full! Trust me!
