A full power off and cable disco "resets" it fora while. Any one know of a swap for the changer? These boxes are $100or less from car audio shops, but they don't talk about this, but respond with "just buy a whole new double din system, they're on sale!!"96 G50 w Bose/Infinity system thx

I'm sure I sound like a borken record by now, but just as sure as Wes will say the Sony is crap and you should find a Clarion changer to replace it (should plug right in). I'll say, look at swapping in a Nis/Inf Bose In Dash CD player. I've never tried the CD changer without, but have a feeling it will work, since the same CD changer works for both vehicles.

Its easy to fix. I posted how-to steps and pictures a year ago, but I have no idea where that thread is now. Search diligently.

[The best long-term solution is to throw it out, stomp on it, curse Sony, and buy a Clarion.]

You can see i labeled the 2 swtiches lever switch 1 and 2.

Lever switch 1 is the easy one to bend up. I held the left part of it down and bent the right free edge up a tad (1/8-1/16 of an inch?)

For lever swtich 2, i had to slide the bar over to the right:

Bascially what I did was after I removed the back cover off the changer, i was able to rotate some of the gears that control the bar that ejects and injects the cd into the reader mechanism. (the red arrow on the right is pointing to where those gears are, you can't see them in the pic i took though).

Once I slide the "bar below" over to the right, it freed up the lever switch 2. I can't remember, but i think i held down the right pivot side with my screwdriver and then bent up the free left edge about the same as i did with lever switch 1.

Once that was all done, i slide the bar back to its home position by moving the gears back the other way (that is important, i beleive if you keep the bar in the "injected" position and then put the cartridge, it iwll then try to slide the bar back and break somethhing.

now for the cleaning, i don't have any pics of it, but what i did was to look at the back of the changer on the cd reader side. There was a tall bar that had a gear at the top of it, i was able to rotate the gear and the cd inject mechnanism then slide up towards the top. Once i got the cd inject mechanism near the top, i was then able to see the cd laser eye clearly. I then used 99 (70 percent will probably be fine) rubbing alchol and a wooden qtip and cleaned the laser eye gently yet somewhat firmly (i wasn't a wuss about it i mean).

Then i closed everything back up and it appears to be working now (and its reading old burnt cds, stuff that i burned like 3 or 4 years ago that i happened to have laying around).

Sent mine off to Sony for a complete rebuild. Even got a new X-10B cassette!

Works great. They replaced a lot of items besides just the belt. Cost was about $170.

Sure prefer my 10 CD cassette over my wife's Clarion 6 +1 in the dash.

Don't know about Sony, but the dealer, who uses Sony, will give you a 12 month warranty according to previous posts.

I would call Sony again and be real nice.

Delete changer, add Mp3 capable/ Input avaialalbe/ipod-adatpor using Headunit. Power on bose amps.

who needs a changer when 7 hours of Mp3's will fit on a burnt cd, the quality wont be noticable since its just factory bose.

I just did an I30 actually, Used a 150 dollar sony, has a front mount aux input, plays MP3, and it all just plugged in using nissan harness adaptors, antenna adaptor, and a storage pocket for the bottom din.

Well, what I'd like is an Aux in adapter for my Bose HU. There was a guy on the Max boards that used to make them , but never revealed his schematic. Do you have any ideas?

1994........not really any idea how that worked out, some bose HU's had cd-changer inputs, thats mainly what was utilized. But these double din q45 ones never had any kind of input for anything.

Hardwired FM would be the only option.

Oh, it's very discernable to me, even with my concrete years, even with the Bose.

Is 10 CD's not enough? I have 2 other cassetes for one car and 3 for the other.

Placebo effect.......You have a sony FM Radio frequency changer correct?. A compressed Mp3 at 128kbps/196kbps will sound better than an FM modulated signal. Then adding on top of that the increased RMS power/cleaner high (speaker level) output of a new stereo. Plus the enhanced Mp3 sound enhancing technology from makers like Alpine. I higly doubt that your FM changer sounds better than a Mp3 CD playing from a new Car stereo.

94 and up Q's had Aux Input changers, not FM modulated.

And I've seen one for sale http://www.discountcarstereo.c...D=610

And one someone wired up

I just want a cheap and easy answer .

Ah okay! I stand corrected. If it does have an AUX input, let me look that up for you.

Now Mp3 Vs AUX input RF changer with bose, I still stand behind a Modern Day Mp3 Cd deck purely because of the better amplifier/sound processing technology in the newer $200+ Head units.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but it came up in a Google search. The changer that was in the Q I just got from jamesmost was working like a dream up until today. Bad things happen when I let people drive my car. So disconnecting the power will fix the error? When I opened the magazine, I see that the CD I had playing isn't in there, so I'm assuming it's stuck in there somewhere. Won't play a damn thing or let me change discs. Had a similar issue with the 6-disc Bose changer in my MDX, any attempt to change to a different disc resulted in an error code. I'll try the disconnect trick and pray it works.
