Yeah, I agree completely. I'm right in the flight path for Macdill. We'll see fighters and refuelers all the time. Nothing like the roar of a jumbo jet at low altitude!

The fighters are cool, but the refuelers are insane!

They do. It's called the Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs). They should be checked for all locations near a route of flight.

For example, Washington DC airspace (KZDC):
08/732 - AIRSPACE R5303A ACT SFC-6900. 20 AUG 22:01 2010 UNTIL 23 AUG 09:59 2010. CREATED:
19 AUG 22:03 2010

08/731 - AIRSPACE R5304A ACT SFC-6900. 20 AUG 22:01 2010 UNTIL 23 AUG 09:59 2010. CREATED:
19 AUG 22:03 2010

ACT stands for active, R530x is restricted airspace.

I grew up outside of Dover AFB, took me years to learn to go to sleep without the roar of C-5's and C-130's flying @ <2500 feet above the house after we moved. I got stationed @ Ft. Campbell so it took me a while after I ETS'd to get used to not having Blackhawks, s***, and Apache's flying overhead every 5 minutes.

The amount of energy going on there is insane. Shakes the ground and rattles the windows. Bigass pressure wave. Freaking awesome.
