Same thing happen to my car, except it wasnt a huge rock. It was like the size of a dime maybe a little smaller. But i was doing 80 mph.

i think they charged me 300 bucks and some change.

Hopefully they have your glass in stock, i had to wait a week.

Call your insurance before you call the dealership. Depending on your coverage, they may pay for the replacement.

Yeah! Check with your insurance company! Auto glass is often NOT subject to the deductible! It isn't on my policy.

Most insurance compaines will pay to have the glass repaired for free...if you need a replacement, that may be a different story based on your policy. But definatly check with your insurance first.

If you have full glass coverage, which im pretty sure is required with a new car then its all covered. No deductible, but like everyone said you need to check with them first. Most times they will pay someone like Safelite to come to you and replace it.

Sunovagun....I wasn't so lucky with my '06 Sentra. Or maybe I was? I don't know..anyway:

Back in February, I was driving down I35 and merging onto loop 12 south here in DFW, driving down in rush hour, close proximity to other cars, @ 45 mph. Out of the blue, *something* hit and broke the entire passenger front window. The pieces were all over the front right door, seat, and rear passenger seats. Never found what the hell it was. Turns out there was a pick up truck pulled over a bit further down where it happened to me, who according to the cop I later flagged down (I was in shock pretty much and asked him if I needed to report anything for insurance etc??) had some glass that had fell out of the truck bed and shattered on the highway.... I imagine a piece must have flung off another car's tire and did that number to my window.

I spent $150 out of pocket because I was too stupid to check with my insurance... The Sentra is under full coverage insurance (not paid off yet so...) it would have been done for free. Oh well, now that I read this thread it made me go Homer Simpson mode. "DOH doh doh ... .. . ."

I hate to think something like that happening to my Alti coupe.

yeah, checked with my insurance company and they did NOT cover the replacement, just the epoxy fix. F that, i'm getting my done on Friday by Pro Auto Glass here in Austin, so i'll put out $275 out of pocket, so its not too bad. hopefully nothing else bad will happen.(knock on wood).

Here in South Carolina if your windshield gets cracked or damaged on a SC road the state will replace it one time. Thats what I'm told and I know people who have done it. IDK if your state has any program like that.

Why the heck would you have your deductible at 750? Is that for collision(which would make sense) or for comprehensive(which would be foolish). Comprehensive is what would cover damage from a non-collision incident(such as a rock breaking a windshield). Most comprehensive damage is far less than 750.When I went to get a new insurance policy the guy at Allstate said its stupid to have a deductible for comprehensive much over 100 because the policy price isn't affected that much and most repairs are not extremely expensive. Most of the policy price comes from collision and bodily injury. Comprehensive does not change the policy price that much.If you deductible for comprehensive is 750 I do suggest you talk to your agent and get that changed. At that deductible you will probably never have any claims you can send for comprehensive damages. So you are being a real nice guy and paying the insurance agency for coverage you wont use.

I have mine set at 1000 deductible.... Yup. The GAP insurance my loan has will cover the deductible amount for the life of the car loan (5 years or earlier if I pay it off), after which I'll just get basic coverage and something like 500 deductible.

My insurance with a 250 deductible and comprehensive coverage would have been about $160-170 a month.. F'd up crap. All I got is ONE accident (glanced a concrete guide about 3 years ago) and 1 speeding ticket on record (couldn't get the thing taken off with defensive driving etc). Just some different viewpoints.
