Hi everyone I'm new here, figured I'd say hi and thanks for having me!

I took advantage of the clunkers program in August (traded in a 1996 Olds Bravada) and got the $4500 rebate. I had a car buying service help me find something (wanted either a SUV or a crossover-like dealio) and the Nissan Rogue was a good fit for my budget. They started looking for me in the beginning of August, and fast forward I signed for the vehicle on the last Friday, just 3 days before Obama stated the clunkers program would end that upcoming Monday! Whew that was close!

So yep, I've been enjoying the new ride for 3months now. Here is what came with my Rogue:

2009 Nissan Rogue SL AWD- Gotham Grey with Black ClothPremium packageMoonroofFloor matsSplash guards

Here's my dealership experience:

Armory Nissan in Albany, NY

Well, I gave my car buyers helpline my budget. I told them to get me the best deal I could and use the entire budget; OUT THE DOOR , and they do...

I get to dealership and wow, wouldn't ya know, the price out the door is now ~$1000 more than my budget...hmmmmm, how could that happen I wonder . Supposedly it was the moonroof, which I had not requested- but it was closest the car buyers people could come up with in my area, and especially because the Clunkers money was going to run out in a few days.

This entire time I have about 3 people dealing with my sale and none of them know what the other ones are doing, pretty discouraging I tell ya

I said fine...let's just do this. Oh wait I'm told, this final price doesn't reflect the registration costs. I said this was suppose to be OUT THE DOOR price. They respond by saying that they can't do that because they have to figure-out-the-weight-of-the-vehicle hogwash. I just wanted it over with so I coughed up another $120ish.

Finally my new Rogue!!!!!

So I finally get everything sorted out and get the keys and sit in my new ride while the sales guy was poorly attempting to explain some features- which was dirty No biggie though because it was raining out, I'll let them slide on that one

I never even test drove one of these haha I just knew I needed a new car so I figured I'd force myself to be happy with what ever I ended up with .......so off I go

It wasn't until I got home that I realised there was these tar-like streaks of glue on the doors and on the hood- I'll bring that up to them when I go for my first service which should be about a week ago, oh well

Oh and another thing about this dealership is I have requested an accesories book to look through five separate times (2x to the sales person and 3x online) Guy claims they didn't have any left at the dealership so he would mail one to me- well that never happened. Only the last time I tried to request one from the Nissan website I finally get one..........for the 2010 Rogue Seriously way to go Nissan

Performance wise I love everything except a few things:

-Not a lot of power from what I'm used to, but it'll do; I knew what the HP and engine size was before driving so I'll be fine with it.

-Rear view visibilty - I'm sure this is no secret to any Rogue owners- just something to get used to you ya know?

-Shifter knob thingies- they're in the way for me. I like to be able to manuever my hands in and out and around and through the steering wheel depending on how I feel while driving but I can't because they're in the way. Not a real biggie though.

-I would prefer the steering wheel to be able to be raised just a little bit more, I think it's too low at it's highest point.

I am VERY happy with everything else the Rogue has to offer

Soooooooooooooooooo......which brings me to why and how I found this site. I had my heat on yesterday and notice the blower fan making a noise, kinda of like a baseball card in a bike spoke, and I'm like....NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

LOL

So I search google for "nissan rogue problems" and this site was up top of the search results

I have offstreet parking with trees above and grass and dirt and stuff and I'm thinking some mice or squirels are setting up shop in there? Anyways I looked under the hood today, removed the dead leaves and branches and stuff, but doubt that helped any if there are critters in the air intake section.

Strange though because the noise was gone today while heading to work, I'll still have them check it out when I bring it in for regular maintenance......in about a week ago

To everyone thanks for listening and sorry for the long read, hopefully it was bearable and thanks again for having me, I'll try to get some pics soon.

Bob

P.S. Oh yeah and Armory Nissan two thumbs down so far

Welcome, bcus28. Sorry to hear about your lousy dealership experience. If you want to improve your rear "visibility", check out these threads:

If you don't like the former try using the latter. You can anticipate your acceleration needs better than the CVT. The Rogue's actually pretty zippy for a CUV of this size running on 4 cylinders IMO but I can see how it's probably disappointing if you're used to something with a bigger engine. You'll be happier at the pump though.

I got used to it pretty quickly but the Rogue does have poor rear visibility. For me it was like learning where the corners are on any new car. If you feel you need them there are backup sensors and cameras available as posted above.

Thanks guys, sorry for the delay.

Soooooo, not a good day for me

I got in my Rogue to go to Subway for lunch, was backing out of my work parking spot, and........car died. Started back up and continued to back out, and......car died. Hmmm, it's about 7 degrees out, maybe something to do with it????? I don't know, but this is not a good feeling.

Nothing was left on to drain the battery or whatnot hmmmmmm. Anyways 3rd time was fine and I was on my way to Subway

Wait, what's this? My steering will is making a funny noise when turning Seriously, I'm getting discouraged at this point, it's virtually new!

I get back to work (about 1.5hrs ago), go online looking for recalls. I call the Nissan number and in fact, there are two recalls for my Rogue- the TPMS and the CVT recalls, but none for the steering gear problem. Oh well, I'm still going to have them look at it.

About 20min ago co-worker comes up to me and says, "nice dent ya got there!" I asked him if he was kidding, he said "nope".

Looks like a shopping cart or a door dent, from the little plaza I just came from. The manager of the market next to Subway says he will look at the video (or have his local PD guy look), so we'll see about that, but I'm basically chalking it up as my 1st official dent!

Ok I'm all done complaing and moaning Merry Christmas everyone!

Just for the heck of it:

~1700miles driven so far since the end of August '09

Hi bcus28, welcome to the forum and thanks for sharing your experiences.

I'm not sure why your Rogue would be stalling, I haven't seen many if any posts on this topic, but I'm sure the dealer will be able to trouble shoot it and get the problem fixed.

Regarding the steering wheel squeek, I know a lot about this. I've lived with this issue for almost 2 years, and just today got my car back after the 4th attempt to fix this. The fix is to replace the clock spring/spiral cable in the steering column, which did the trick for me, unfortunately I've had the noise return over time but that doesn't mean it'll happen to you. Also, the noise is MUCH worse at lower temperatures, in the heat of summer it pretty much disappears.

So bottom line, schedule an appointment for the recall items, squeeky steering wheel, and stalling issue and hopefully they can take care of everything all at once. Once the bugs are worked out I'm sure you'll love this vehicle. Good luck.

Actually, I have had my Rogue stall twice in a row. It was a cold start, around -12C (10F), and the vehicle stalled as soon as I started moving in reverse.

It's never happened since so I have chalked it up to a one off problem.

kerrton- Thanks for the welcome. I've read alot of threads in the Rogue section and I feel comfortable and trusting to post here, so again, thank you!

Yeah I hoe it's just something like that and not a problem from the steering gear recall. I'll see what the dealership says next trip in. And yeah, today here upstate NY it is the coldest it's been this winter, maybe just maybe...

philipa_240sx- thanks for sharing your experience, it's exactly what happpen to me today- 2x in a row while reversing out of my parking spot (7F), so maybe it's a one time thing or only iin very cold weather.

Thanks again guys, I'll keep updating things as time goes on!

PS- still pissed someone dinged me today
