I know the RB has more hp, stronger block, and is a 6 cyl. But Whats wierd to me is why is the torque a tad bit lower then the SR? Shouldn't it be higher then the SR? Can someone tell me in a way which motor is made for high revving? I want to get the RB20 since I live close to Venus Auto so its not hard for me to go there and pick it up. With the RB20 what type of whp am I seeing with 13-14psi? With the SR I hear 250whp is max so would the RB make 10-20 more hp? Of course all the neccesary upgrades will be present.

sup aznboi,

The RB will rev higher as it has a shorter stroke. The red-line is somewhere between 7,500-7,900 rpm (although some have gone as high as 8,500 rpm) , while the sr's redline around the 7,000 rpm.

The SR is torquey because of the longer stroke so you have more torque. This is great for good bottom end power and acceleration, but the RB is GREAT at top end power and acceleration. I have gone from 60-100mph REAL FAST in my RB20DET.

All in all for the price get an rb25det clip. It has around 250HP stock while sr have around 205HP stock. They are about the same price.

If you are low on money go with the rb20det. thats what i did and I AM HAPPY with it.

Yeah what frosted said. My RB20 pulled like a mofo from 60-100. IF you can get teh SR20 cheaper though.....go for it (although I doubt you can find a complete SR20 for RB20 prices)

RB20's are surprisingly cheap, but yet they are usually older and many times have more miles on them.

aznboi,

with 13-14 psi, your looking at close to 235-255HP to the wheels. You will need a front mount intercooler though to cool the air.

also i got my rb20det clip and it only had 33,000 miles on it!
