Ok here we go... 93 240sx. I started to notice black smoke occasionally when first accelorating in rear or 1st gear. Then on occasion i would notice loss of power. Finally my car would start to shake and feel like it was going to give out while idling. I replaced the spark plugs with NGK iridiums about a month ago. I also replaced all the wires. This was happening before i replaced them and then it was fine for a while after i replaced them. I should add i have gotten a new baterry, starter, and alterntor as well. I road home last night and it just was shaking like crazy. I opened the hood and took off one spark plug wire at a time while running. I came to the conclusion that i was running on 3 cylinders bcause of the fact that when i unplugged the 2 cylinder spark plug wire, it didnt make any difference in the way the engine was running. Now i wake up this afternoon and the damn thing is running fine again. Frutration is an understatement. Please hep me.....

thanx gio

Pop off the distributor and check for corrosion on the rotor and on the leads on the bottom of the cap.

Also, I had an exhaust leak at my manifold once, and it melted part of my spark plug wire. I popped the hood to see wtf is up, and I could see it arcing against the head! Make sure your wires are in-tact. I know they are new, though.

Do it yourself, it's not hard. Heck I'm sure you could even find a write-up for it.

Also, if you're doing one, might as well do them all, because factory KA injectors are well-known for crapping out and leaking.

Ok i replaced the number 2 injector. Everything went well then i got white smoke and all kinds of loss of power after about 40 miles on it. Thought it might be another one of the injectors as you all told me might happen. Nope it was the same dang one. Turns out the thing was defective from the store. Just my luck. Anyways i guess that injector had been going bad since i bought the car because, there is a huge increase in power from what i can tell. Thank you all for the help. Beat a 04 tiburon today it wuz fun.

White smoke = coolant.

Black smoke = fuel.

Check your compression, your headgasket may have gone south.

I had #1 go twice, and #2 and #4 went all in the span of about 4 months and 3,000 miles. I was beginning to think conspiracy, but now I just travel with spare injectors.
