Hi Guys,

Sometimes, maybe 1 in 10 tries, my car will not start. It wont even turn over. I press on the clutch, hear the engine engage by hearing a 'click' but nothing happens. It doesn't turn, it doesn't try to do anything..it just does nothing.

I thought it was the battery, however, the last time I went through this I turned on the radio, the lights and tried to start it and nothing dimmed at all.

After a few minutes the car will engage and start without any problems. I am not sure what could be the problem. The starter is new and the clutch is not that old at all. Nothing has any symptons... the car runs great... just out of the blue... it does this.

help!

One of the brushes could have a problem in the starter. My car has done this before, and there usually ends up being a groove in one of the starter brushes that lets it slide around a bit so sometimes it'll be in a position where it won't work.

I'd just rebuild the starter. Costs like 10 bucks.

the starter is new. I replaced it thinking that was what was causing it not to work.

I would try swapping out the interlock relay, its the blue relay next to the battery its an $18 part so its worth a shot, my car was having the same problem as yours, except mine wouldn't start at all. And it was the interlock relay. Hope it helps

Hey this same thing happens to me, the click and everything. But its more like 100% of the time unless... I find the sweet spot in the ignition. I just put pressure on the key as I turn it towards the front of the car, and for some reason, it starts right up when I do it. There must be a loose connection in the key slot or whatever. This might not be whats happening to you, but it could be, all the symptoms are the same. My car used to start just fine, and after awhile, it got worse and the sweet spot got smaller. Im gonna have to fix it pretty soon. Just thought Id let you know. Check the clutch sensor as well.

I had to "fix" the clutch switch at one point, but It just broke again so I jumped the solenoid switch so I don't need it... just make shure you don't start in gear

you could have lost a spoke from your flywheel so the starter does not catch... unlikely but I have seen it happen before.
