This is part 1, more pics will be up of the other goodies...

Work environment: (Notice the old FMIC)

Finished product:

Gonna hack up the front bumper so I can actually use all that new space. It's a 30.5 x 12 x 3, bar and plate, with 3 inch inlet/outlets.

Nitrous install pics will be up within the next couple days......

Very nice. Reminds me I need to start buying mandrel bends for my intercooler piping.

It's definitely not Greddy. Greddy and those are tube and fin. This one is bar and plate. It was a PITA installing, had to weld the tab on the top on and then did some rearranging of the previous piping. Grunt work but...oh well.

I refuse to paint it. I am going to cut out my bumper to allow all the airflow I can and I like the bling look at me. Hehehe.

I heard that spray painting decreases the efiiciency sp? of the Intercooler, is that true, if it does, is it noticable?

This is entirely off subject but I will answer anyway. The intercooler is essentially a heat exchanger. And each fin needs space in between. So hypothetically if the spray paint clogged the openings and/or decreased the efficiency of the heat transfer then yes, it would suck. My theory, just don't do it. You can custom order certain intercoolers in black anyways.

it really depends on the paint type and the coat thickness(es). Glossy paints tend to be a bit thicker so stick with a flat paint. And use a very thin coat(only enough to cover the surface entirely. This will leave a very low loss in efficiency if at all. I ran a painted intercooler for nearly 2 years with no problems in efficiency. Track events in hot weather were fine too. I did run a mild 6.5 psi, but the intercooler was perfectly cool when I came into the pits.

So, what paint would be ok? Just flat black spraypaint?

Is the old one for sale? Did it fit without modifying your bumper or bumper support?

Anthony is correct, it is a Sakura Industries. I researched it before buying it and found some weird European car forums where the guys with 500whp Cosworth's and 700whp Supra's were using the exact same intercooler. If it works for them, then it will work for me. The guy that sold it to me told me it was a ricer ebay brand...his loss not mine.

As for the old intercooler it is a Spearco bar and plate and fit with only a tiny bit of trimming of the stock bumper. Price would be 220, but keep it off this thread. ([email protected] is my email)

As for the paint, C-Kwik is right. I was just doing a very general overview. *shrug*
