So, I'm heading to my Q in the student parking lot yesterday and on the walk there, I thought I spotted a set of Q tail lights. The car I saw was too close to be mine, (I had thought someone was playing a prank. I'd kill them if they attempted to move my car) so when I get there, I find that it's a fellow Q driver who spotted mine and in a moment of solidarity, decided to park next to me. The other Q was a green 94-96 with the piepans.

Seeing the both of them side by side made me smile. I had to take a picture.

That's mine on the left. I love the way the back of a G50 looks. I think it's intimidating. Especially when it's dusting you.

How are your chain guides?

First things first!

The 1994 owner is not worried about his, I assure you.

My chain guides are doing quite well actually. I spoke to them today and we chatted a bit about religion and politics.

First things first? I posted a picture of another Q parked next to mine. Relevance?

I'm also fairly certain that the 94 owner has no idea about chain guides and wouldn't know one if I showed it to him. If he was was a Q enthusiast, wouldn't he have been on NICO already?

I've already told the board that the chain guide operation and VC reseal had to be postponed and according to my current schedule and the alignment of the stars, they'll be done sometime in the next two weeks.

Glad to see you're concerned though. How nice of you. I'll be a little sad when the old guides are gone. What will you chastise me incessantly about after I have the trusty updated ones?

I take it that you'll be the one to drive me to appointments?

I know the risks that I'm taking. I'm also doing everything to minimize the chances of guide failure (for now). I wouldn't take these risks if I didn't have to. I'm fairly certain that neither my employer nor my professors would accept "I can't be there because I'm afraid to drive my car."

Trust me, it's not fun at all to be constantly on edge because of this. I periodically turn the radio off for long periods of time to listen to the engine while I'm driving and prepare myself to pull over at the first sign of anything unkosher.

Will you please fix your timing chain guides! I ran into 3 threads in a row about this.

The issue may be more serious issue than you think. Back in 2003 when my parents owned an autoshop in Davis. I remember my 93 Q used to be parked there. My pops told me to move the car... so I started it up and there was something leaking badly like it was going to start a fire.

I realize this may have been the reason that the engine was replaced with a JDM one. Didn't cost us... but its going to cost you $$$$$$ <----thats what people pay for engine swaps at our shop and everywhere else. Look on the bright side... you will have a faster Q45 with a JDM engine

I fully understand the direness of the situation. It's not as if I'm here twiddling my thumbs and waiting for a terrible catastrophe. I want nothing more to do then have them out. I can't enjoy my Q's full potential until then. (Well, I could, but the chance of a failure increases exponentially)

In thos three different threads, I also said that I had some setbacks that had to postpone the job. I'd rather not get into the gory details, but rest assured, I'm going to get them done before February is out.

It's not fun to start your car terrified that today may be it's last day.

You've weighed your options and understand the risks. You only get chastized because you're with us a lot. Others have been driven away after just a few posts. You'll be able to cruise proud in another couple months but for now you'll just have to put up with our "urgings".

Back to the original thread, I got a compliment on my Q today. I doesn't happen much here in Sac Town. I walked out of the grocery store and saw a 70ish gentleman peering into my DS window from a couple feet away. His car was idling and he was waiting for his wife to come out of the store. "Nice car" he says. "Very pretty" he says. I also noticed he was carrying an empty wine glass so I'm not sure if he really meant it or if it was the liquor talking. Nice old boy though. Oh well.

I'm happy that there is so much concern of the state of the guides. No one wants to see them fail. I totally appreciate it guys! I stay on the board because it is the best forum in the world? What would I do without the shenanigans and antics that happen here? Pictures of awesome cars, a wealth of knowledge, and a large group of people that have a huge common interest are the main reasons I stay here. I love it. At work, I can have about 6-7 different browser windows open, all different threads. I constantly check my email for new thread replies.

I'm such a loser when it comes to the board. But I'm proud of it.

I'd join in the "ragging on hatian king" but I waited a year and 17,000 miles to do my guides after buying my Q.

I'm terrible.

What's crazy is that I was walking to my car and the green one just happened to be there. Must have been inevitable. Best looking cars on campus.

What's crazy is that you post a picture of your Q next to another and get reamed for your maintenance habits.

Goes to show someone is looking out for your Q besides you.

I was going to post about the time Id gone to price chopper and when I came out there was a Q parked next to the misses Q...same color, same year.this one had 20"rims and was well taken care of on the exterior.he was sitting in his car with his girl as I pushed the basket closer wondering why I hadnt washed her car.we talked about Qs for about 20 min.Id just gotton hers for her and wasnt a member yet.he was working for a local custom audio place here in k.c. since then Ive found nico, and am blessed to know theres a group of people right at home that can help me with just about anything that has to do with our Qs. Ive my own Q45t now.his and hers.same color, year and all that jazz.It was a warm feeling seeing another Q next to hers, but its also rather Ironic that this post drifted strait into chain issues.......because this is the honest to GOD truth.I was over by the audio place this guy worked at and seen the place thought about him and decided to drop in.this was about 2 years later.they said he didnt work there anymore.just so happened the guy I talked to was cool with him and said that he was on the highway here in kansas and his car had stopped on him.he left the car there and went to get a trailer.got back and some selfish bastard had stolden his radio and they had attepted to get one of the rims off.the guy he worked with said that he wasnt really the same after that.and that he had moved on.....didnt know where, nor what he was doing now???? every time I see one of those guys at the end of the on-ramps with one of those signs I look closly to see if maybe its him??

The concern is much appreciated.
