okay in about 3 months ill have a rb powered 240sx with fmix, fuel pump, exhaust, custom intake manifold, etc... all the minor stuff....

but what scares me is some of the hondas around here and especially my friends....

hes on 4 cylinders pushing 450@wheels...

how embarrasing would it be when you sport a 6 cylinder 240 and get smoked by a honda?

Yeah your right that would just suck. I guess you will have to spend more money to feel better.

um do you realize how much engine building is required for a 450fwhp honda? thats a fully built block, fully done head running crappy 91 california gas and still pushing 20+psi... on a t60-1

id give more respect to that than upping boost in a 6 cylinder nissan...

meaning the fwd has to deal with traction and making sure he doesnt go past 9k rpms...

but im just trying to be different with a 6 cyl nissan 240...trying to push 300rwhp

the point is, fwd is not fun, 450 might make it a fun highway monster, but its still a fwd honda, i would rather drive a 300rwhp 240sx, because its more fun to drive... i totally realize how much work it takes to get there no doubt, but im just giving my opinion on what id rather :)

and having a 6 cyl nissan (im assuming your referring to an rb swap) isn't that much of being different now lol but nonetheless cool :)

Why would this scare you? Its not like he is going to take away your birthday. ;)

You are comparing a stock 6cyl with bolt-ons in a mid weight to a fully built, no holds bard (?) 4cyl in a feather weight.

ARE YOU DOING THE SWAP TO IMPRESS PEOPLE? IF YOU ARE, THEN YOU ARE DOING IT FOR ALL THE WRONG REASONS. AND IF YOU REALLY WANT THE SECURITY OF KNOWING YOU CAN BEAT THEM.... N20, AN A*S-WHOOPIN IN A BOTTLE.

There are always going to be people with Hondas out there that are faster than 300+ hp RB240's. It's just unfortunate for you that you live in a town with one, or two...

Build your 6 cylinders up to the extent that they have, and I'll bet your fears about this will be gone. No matter what they do, they will always be limited to those 4 cylinders.. you aren't.

That was an excellent way to put it.

Someone will always have a faster car. Some of the guys that work for me have 10 second supras. The funny part is that I don't care if my rb240 ever gets to the 10's, because I can drive it to work everyday and enjoy it, and I didn't spend 30K+. :)

Yeah, if you wanted to spend the same amount of money that he spent on his T60-1 turbo, his fully built bottom and top end, his stand-alone fuel management that he undoubtedly needs for a motor like that, well sh*t.....you could bore out the block, stroke it, put in a JUN valvetrain, custom turbo manifold, GT3037/T51R/T78/whatever biga*s turbo you feel like using, et cetera, and have a 6, 700HP monster that would rape that Honda.

Plus, your car is still cooler than his anyway ;)

someone pleases drop a RB30DET in a S13, that would be a extremely rare swap and also it makes big power at low revs, i think it can take a supra anyday :D

THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE CYLINDER HEAD WOULD BE THROUGH THE HOOD.

Lets just put it this away, there will always be a car out there faster than you no matter how much money you drop. I tune 300hp stock hondas all day, they feel great. If you are only going to be putting down 300hp on a skyline motor you are a SISSY!!! Turn the boost up and dump the clutch.

Fudge it. Cut the hood and let 'em see the engine. (This is a drag car anyways probably, so just keep it out of the rain...)

Its just the money, and for the hood issue get a RB25 mounting kit and if it still doesnt clear then cut the hood

most of the hassle is tryin to get parts, think about it, its not hard to drill and tap a hole for the pulley or what ever its calld, and get a new timing belt ...

That, plus the need for a *very* custom wiring job, and finding some sort of ECU/engine management that'll run the damn thing....

no its not a custom wiring job, it is the same as what RB20 RB25 RB26, whatever head you use is what ever wiring harness you'll use, but the ECU management is a must, most people that has done the swap that i've seen use the power FC

Yea, thats what I was referring to. The best thing to do would be to buy a RB25DET clip that way you get all the misc parts and then buy the rebuilt RB30 shortblock. That will get pricey though. Its not worth it tome to have to find all the necessary items, which are only avaliable in Japan or Australia, to make it work.

Dont get me wrong, I would love to roll up to the dragstrip one Friday with a 3 liter turbo 240, stock on the outside, and see the Supra guys **** their pants.

A RB30DET would :ylsuper .
