I'm sure most of you have done this in the past -- leave your car door open by mistake, and then come back to a car with a dead battery, etc. Either you were working on your car and forgot to close the door, or it didn't latch when you closed it. I've done it myself and it's not fun with a dead battery. The other night I had some friends over and was in the back seat showing them the rear armrest radio/climate controls, etc. When I got out of the car, I never shut the door. The next morning I went into the garage to see the rear door wide open, and I remembered I must have forgot to shut it. I looked and the domelights were all out. I go to the drivers door and opened it up, and the domelight blasted on bright as can be. Hmm, I started the car and no hesitation. The car automatically shut off the domelights!
I tried another test to see if this was what really happened. I opened the drivers door - all the domelights came on. I left the door open, came back in 30 minutes later, and all the lights were off inside!
I have to say this is a really cool feature that will save me in the future. I'm one who like to tinker with cars and have left many a car door open in the past returning to a dead battery. I don't think this feature is mentioned in the manual, but it saved me from being late the next day! This is a feature I never thought of, and whoever did is pretty smart.
